Re: Steinberger ( The story of the making of ...)

I have one...an '80s model.

I'll have to take some pics later.

Re: Steinberger ( The story of the making of ...)

I'm not a big steinberger fan, just not my cup of tea I guess, but damned if I didn't sit and watch everyone of those videos flick posted. It was cool to see the American dream unfold like that. It just shows what one can achieve with a dream and the passion to succeed. Thanks flick. cool videos.

Re: Steinberger ( The story of the making of ...)

Here's some pics of my GL4TA. I can't remember when I got it, but it was the mid-late 80s. I got it brand new.

Re: Steinberger ( The story of the making of ...)

I saw one of those in a pawn shop about 20 years ago for $50.00. I didn't know what it was and passed on what I thought was some crappy chinese guitar.

Cool guitar B!

I had a Hohner copy when I was a kid it was so cool for traveling with as the thing was so small. I called it the cricket bat!

One day I'll buy a real one, one day...

I had the Hohner one... Loved it... Didn't sound thin to me... But those EMG Hz pups it came with weren't too nice.

Re: Steinberger ( The story of the making of ...)

If you can find the hardware, you can roll your own. I started shooting the sealer coats on my korina-berger today.

@ the "Newport In Miami" Guitar show last year there was a guy selling Mid '80s Steinberger headless 6 strings for anywhere from $1,500 to $2,200....I was realy glad I found mine in a pawn shop for $75, and it is probably THE best travel guitar in the world...I have a lil Danelectro battery amp and the 2 of 'em dont take up any space, Ya can put both of 'em in a suitcase and still pack yer clothes in it...I love mine!!

They really are the ultimate travel guitar, they are virtually indestructible. They fit perfectly in the overhead bins on planes. I owned 4 GL's over the years, liked everything about them except for the tone. That's why I built the korina one, hopefully it will have some more warmth to the tone. I may build another one but I'm waiting for the J-custom guys to come out with their trans-trem, don't really want to spend a grand for a NOS one.
