Are Schecter's being counterfeited?
I'm very close to buying one off of the local Craigslist. Couldn't find that much info on the internet regarding fake Schecters. Anyone really familiar with Schecters?

Re: Are Schecter's being counterfeited?
I own a Schecter, a C-1 Hellraiser, and it's a really great guitar. It's ridiculously good for what it cost.
As far as why would someone do that? If someone can make a fake copy for 1/4 of the price of the original, and charge half the price of the original... People fake Epis all the time, and I don't see this as any different. Avarice is the root of all evil.

I know, right? It's the end of the world as we know it.

Re: Are Schecter's being counterfeited?
Well according to an email response from Schecter, they are not aware of Schecter's being counterfeited, but stated that it doesn't mean it isn't occurring. I think it is. I found a distributor out of Thailand that I can purchase from (probably have to buy in quantity). Don't I have to be an authorized dealer to purchase from the distributor? Anyways, I'm pretty sure the kid on Craigslist is legit. If he has to borrow his mom's digital camera to take additional pics I doubt he has the funds to be purchasing fakes from overseas. Sounds more like a kid that got a nice guitar as a present, lost interest, and just wants some quick cash.

Re: Are Schecter's being counterfeited?
As long as they're not opening factories in China, they should be OK.
