A twin-pronged Ricky attack!!!

As much as I know the punk revolution of the 70's was neccessary a lot of it was shit. There were of course notable exceptions, one being The Jam. Too good for punk they were a genre all of their own and fronted it all with the unmistakeable sound of Paul Weller on a Rickenbacker 330 and Bruce Foxton on a Ricky 4001.

A great band and when you are into them you will GAS for a Ricky like nothing else!

Re: A twin-pronged Ricky attack!!!

The Mods play punk rock!

Haven't heard these guys in ages....a friend of mine saw them out in LA a while back...claimed they still put on a good show!

Now I know what I'll be hitting you tube for this afternoon at work!

Re: A twin-pronged Ricky attack!!!

Good call Cookie.

Interestingly, my band cover all three of the tunes which you linked to above, plus a bunch of other Jam tunes. The scooter boys go nuts for this stuff....

Re: A twin-pronged Ricky attack!!!

Malice is one of my faves but the clips I found on you tube had Paul on a Gretsch and Bruce on a Precision!!! Kind of defeated the Ricky theme!!!!

Fuck it, let's list the lot!!!!

Re: A twin-pronged Ricky attack!!!

How about we complete the set list;

Next time you're around your old London stomping ground, you need to stop by at one of our gigs. Drinks are on me, old bean.

Re: A twin-pronged Ricky attack!!!

Cookie-boy - the "Eton Rifles" vid was one of their best. Played live, & look carefully & you'll notice Weller's not even using the Marshall. At the end of the vid it looks like he's trying to coax feedback out of a Peavey Artist.

Kate033 - Don't know who your friend saw awhile back - Weller hasn't played with Foxton & Buckler since '82!

Thanks for the vids!

rickym - Jam & Weller fan since '77.

From memory Foxton and Buckler toured as a bastardisation of the Jam name but Paul soon pissed on their chips and it had to end!! It's not the bloody Jam without him anyway!! I guess that's what Kate033's mate saw.

Exactly it. Sort of along the lines of Ten Years After touring without Alvin Lee

I never saw them myself. Youtube will have to do for me!
