Guitars You Will Never Sell -Never Ever -:)

There's been alot of mad scientists at work on guitar designs over the years .

I was wondering how many of you own at least one oddball , semi oddball or really popular guitar that's just set in stone in your mind , you'll never sell it- period !

I have a 1998 Fender Toronado Deluxe thats not going anywhere. From jazz to metal it does it .

My Danelectro U3:

I could let my Strats go, and I could even conceive of letting my Les Pauls go for something better, but I can't see getting anything better than this for what it does.

Hmmm... I'm still searching for, and in some cases buying, the one that I hope never to sell!

Everything I have is for sale - well almost!

I've got two I'll never sell. But that's not saying much, as I doubt I'll ever sell any of them.

Re: Guitars You Will Never Sell -Never Ever -:)

My tele is my only guitar that I could say I really couldn't sell...although it would take serious desperation (or the "perfect" LP) to ever get me to sell my Les Paul. My acoustic is a little rare too, so maybe not that! My Strat and Danelectro are just off the shelf models - even with some mods -not too tough to duplicate.

The tele hand built by a luthier in the mid 90's (although I picked it up cheap second hand on ebay) and it just has this amazing worn in feel. I just put in a set of Don Mare pickups and it has killer tone.
Funny - when I was putting in the pups, I took off the neck to tweak the truss rod and the body/neck are both dated my birthday (different year though) . I won't say it was fate that I ended up with the guitar, but out of all the days of the year...well it's a strange coincidence!

I would never sell my Larrivee, my Harmony archtop, my classical (even though it's utter shit) and I would never, ever, ever, not in a million years or for a million dollars, sell my Strat with Texas Specials.

Great choice

I love the "blow switch" on those where it runs all three pups in series. Killer guitars!

My latest purchase - michael kelly patriot custom. I just l-l-love it!

It was so cheap but has the most amazing tone, well I love everything about it and go on and on. I'm just glad I took my time choosing my latest purchase. It was through a lit of digging around that I happened upon it.

I won't sell my gretsch or my Taylor either.

That said I also want an r9 and a flying v. When I find those I won't likely let any of them go either.

I guess Im a horder

I bugged the original owner of my ES-335 for 8 years to buy it in 1979.

And I had my flamenco guitar made to my specs ten years ago. Both keepers.

My first 1980 Ibanez Artist.

I told my wife that when I die, she has to figure out a way for me to be buried with it. I love that guitar.

Same with my Artist. I borrowed it from a friend to record an album, then spent the next five years pestering him to sell it to me.

The squeaky wheel, etc.

'75 hardtail Strat that belonged to a friend who is no longer among us. Our families were friends long ago, my father dated his mom. Some ...people... carjacked him and killed him back in the mid 80s. RIP Rafa.

I'll never sell my Cyclone...

Please excuse the playing!

I sold this very guitar a few years back when money was tight - I regretted it instantly but never found another that played/sounded the same My girlfriend managed to track it down and buy it back for me.... for the same price I sold it!

Turns out it went from the shop I sold it to to a guy who my girlfriend knows and she managed to persuade him to part with it.

Re: Guitars You Will Never Sell -Never Ever -:)

I have a few I don't plan on parting with; but this will never be sold:

1977 Hondo Strat copy. Plywood body. so-so electronics. It had a mustard yellow paint job that I stripped & painted Oly White. Never liked the Hondo headstock so I shaped it like a Tele. Even though I'd been playing for 10 years & had bought all my own gear, it's the only guitar my dad ever got me.

Re: Guitars You Will Never Sell -Never Ever -:)

I have five guitars, including my acoustic, but I would never sell any of them. None of mine are very expensive, but most have some sort of sentimental value. I've never paid more than $350 for any of my guitars, but I've gotten most of them for half of what a new model would cost. The one I feel is sort of unique (or not 'mainstream' if you will), is my Ibanez Jet King II. I bought it brand new, but at half the cost of what it originally sold for because I bought it at close-out price (Jet King III and IV were already out), and I bought it as a 'deal of the day' from AMS. I really like it because it's Ibanez's vintage-looking guitar, plus it has a mahogany body and coil splitting capabilities. Here's a picture of it:

I've never sold any of my guitars, but this one has special meaning. It was my first guitar and my uncle built it out of a mahogany coffee table. I'm sure my Aunt wasn't happy about it. This is really the only decent picture I have of it.

hmmm, those close together dots look like a charvel neck...what is it?
LOVE the pinup sticker on there too.

I have four of 14 that aren't going anywhere. in order, they are:

16th birthday strat: I had this built for me as a 16th birthday present to myself. (38 now). It was stolen and pawned, and I got it back in a crazy coincidence.

1992 Jackson Rhoads LTD model: Bought it new in 1992, sold it in 2003 to a guy in houston, who then sold it to a guy in Belgium. I got it back in 2007

2008 Custom Shop Charvel: part of a 10 piece limited run. Ordered to be as close to Jake E. Lee's white Charvelized '73 Fender strat as we could get while avoiding Charvel's "no artist similar guitars" policy. I quickly made a Jake-style pickguard and added the signature on the ball end of the headstock. Jackson and Charvel's custom shop cannot be beat.

before:

after:

My own tribute to a friend: Robbin Crosby of Ratt was a friend of mine (I built and maintain w w w . r o b b i n c r o s b y . n e t with a dear friend of mine). I love Jackson firebirds because of Robbin. The stencil was from one of Robbin's road case stencils and the sticker was an unused Dancing Undercover working personnel pass of Robbin's. I never really play it, but it's never leaving me. During the paint process, I decided to give it a worn look and sanded through the color in a few spots.

hm...just realized that I don't have a full length shot of the guitar. weird.

Edited to add a full shot:

Sully

I have 3 I'll never sell:

#1 - 1984 Kramer Focus 2000 - my first electric. 25 years old and it still plays perfectly

[BR]
#2 - Epiphone LP Custom - I gutted it, added Gibson pups and chromed out the whole thing myself.

[BR]
#3 Gibson LP Studio Silverburst - my first Gibson, phenomenal player.
