Re: Ngd - prs

Very nice PRS R9. Looks superb actually. How does it sound on the single coil option, kind of like a Strat or more a P90 type sound, or is it something unique altogether?

Willcuttguitars.com, PRS GUITARS, PAUL REED SMITH, HAMER, BREEDLOVE, GUITAR, NIK HUBER

I would look into anything with a rosewood neck...ME II ME III ...it's so freaking nice

I love that 513...that might be MY next guitar :-D

Definitely a one-trick pony. It can do Strat tones quite well and I can get it to sound like my R6 but I wouldn't buy one as a substitute for a Strat or a Les Paul.

I don't know, seems some people bash this guitar because they see it as a substitute to (say) a Strat. Well, there is no substitute for a Strat. If you want a Strat, buy a Strat. The 513 is its own thing. It's not a Strat and it's not a Les Paul, it's a 513. That's how I look at it. I've been completely floored with this thing since I got it. It's amazing how one guitar can cover so many different tones...and they all sound great.

I've only had it for a short while and I'm still learning it but I definitely recommend trying one out. It has a nice, medium-thick sized neck. Not exactly comparable to a Les Paul but I'd say it's near the thickness of a newer LP Custom.

Get a load of this.

Congrats Tim, very nice!

The flame on this one is very similar to the flame on your '09 R9. You got taste, bro...

Thanks for the info R9. It's cool the 513 has it's own single coil vibe, but I wasn't sure how PRS was swinging this from a marketing perspective, aside from the 5 pickups/13 different tones angle. And wow..... talk about a PCB control setup! The new Les Paul Standards look simple compared to that.

Re: Ngd - prs

man that is nice. PRS are nice, never have played a bad USA model. I knew you would get one of those one day. I have a custom 24 20th anniversary one-piece quilt top and a McCarty Korina. Both have brazilian rosewood..I love the fat tone on the McCarty..

Yeah, so did I.
Didn't take me long but I'm buying a second PRS next week!
What do the pickups sound like? Here's a quick & good demonstration.
Jump to around 2 minutes into the video if you just want to hear it.
