Kauer Custom Guitars ~ WOW!

Had a trip a little ago to Sacramento and was fortunate enough to be able to meet the guys at Kauer Guitars. Doug and Rick Kauer and Steve the amazing guitar player.

The guitars they are making are truly solid and KILLER!!! I am completely amazed and in awe of of the Daylighter model! Gibson scale, Fat Necks, and amazing fretboards. Unfortunately, I only had the camera on my phone so my pics are kinda crappy but I ripped some from Doug's site.

They also make KILLER RACKS!!

Yep, we do

Everything I make can be left handed by simply running my programs on the other side of the CNC.

This one has Vintage Tuned Hots. I actually I think most of the WB's to try out right now (one is getting straight VT's, one Habeneros and one Firewaters).

Habenero's

VT's into that guy (Both of those are semi-hollow)

Should have them up and playing this weekend.

I like to think of myself as boutique production

Basically, we're gearing up to produce about 4 models and mostly building them as we see fit to sell (production). I am willing to do some custom work but mostly within whats offered, ie: neck profiles, dots, blocks, or trap inlays, control or pickup config. With exception to differences in materials (dot inlays vs blocks for example) none of that is an upcharge. Lefties also, other than I can't play em before they go out the door everything we do can be done left handed!

The main thing we're not doing one off shaped guitars. I figure roughly from the time I first open ACAD to finishing all the CNC programming and mock up run I have roughly 100-150 hours before putting router to wood. In that situation the guy working with all hand tools will be much, MUCH faster and more cost effective.

As far as the boutique, we're just a shop of 2.5 guys (my father in law will be doing some of the fret work part time) and with the exception of the pickups we do everything else in house.
