Archtops Hollowbodies $2000
Ok, I am planning on getting an archtop or hollowbody as my next guitar (it wont be for a while but i like planning ahead
) . So what can you reccomend for me? I want something really versatile, that can play from C.W Stoeking to Messhuggah. My absolute limit is $2000 USD and even that is stretching it.So what is your advice> Thanks in advence |

Re: Archtops Hollowbodies $2000
Well if you want to play Meshuggah you are going to want a center block at least. I don't think it'll really work all that well for that much gain but you could look at ES-335s and 135s as they both have the center blocks are are easy to find.
Good luck!

Re: Archtops Hollowbodies $2000
I'd definitely check out some used Hamers, you could pick up a real beaut for that kind of money. They make some exquisite semis. A Tokai ES130 would be another very nice option. Great guitars.
But as analogysystem pointed out, expecting Meshuggah heaviness from a hollow body is pushing it. They wont do that tight low-end heaviness as well as a solid body, they're just not designed for crushingly heavy hi-gain stuff. Its kind of like wanting your cat to bark, when all it wants to do is purr. |
