Squire Classic Vibe or Mexican made!
Ofc im talking about a Stratocaster, i just cant decide which one!
I'v heard alot of good stuff about the Classic vibe, ppl say that its alot better than the Mexican made ones, and that it sounds like an American standard. help me out guys, which one should i get! (I would get the American made one but, they are really expensive in Sweden!) |

Re: Squire Classic Vibe or Mexican made!
I've had the MIM Strat and that one was great. also borrowed a friends 50's classic strat, cost about the same as the MIM but it had that 50's feeling that really did it for me. But beware the classic only comes with a maple neck, so if your not into that you might want a 70 or a std. But from my experience the MIMs are relly good guitars.

Re: Squire Classic Vibe or Mexican made!
Yeah, I kind of have the same question. I've been eyeballing the 50's Classic Vibe Squier since it came out. I'm confused though. Are you comparing a Fender standard MIM to a Squier CV ?
If that's the case then I guess if people are telling me that the squier is a better choice and sounds like an american standard for $300 I guess I'll just have to buy one then.

Re: Squire Classic Vibe or Mexican made!
Since you live in Sweden, and the economic scene there is different than here, I would not hesitate to recommend either.
As stated by others, the switches and pots may not be up to par in the Squier, but the pickups in the Mexican Standard Strat are a bit 'cheap-o' too, but the switch and pots are the same as in the USA models. I think it would be easier to replace just the pickups in the Mex than to do a complete wiring job in the Squier. USA Strat parts (except for the trem) are totally interchangeable with the Mex also, as they are not with the Squier. Good luck! Read the reviews in the magazines! I have read none that say the Vintage Vibe sounds 'like' a USA Strat. I have read good reviews, but there is always the caveat of 'value for price'.

To the OP ;Can any stock MIM strat or CV squire sound like a MIA standard stock!?, sure they can. Cermaic pups do sound harsher IMO which come on the MIM standards but some like them. Cheaper to change pots, cap and switch, than new pups if needed. Do all strats sound the same from a bunch of same models, no they don't. People complain about the MIA standard pups , people rave about the MIA pups. same said for all the types of fender pups. What more reviews on the CV check the various CV club threads on Telecaster Guitar Forum - guitars, gear, amps and strings and The Fender Forum

MIM,I think is better quality. You can always change out the electronics out of the both them but I think the MIM is better made. I can't say anything about the classic vibe because i only played for about 3 minutes

Re: Squire Classic Vibe or Mexican made!
Ok, I can comment on the CV and the MIM standard tele and from what I've learned the opinion is the same regarding the strats. The classic vibe is as good if not better than the MIM. Now if you're trying to compare the CV with an American Strat, then I would say no. But bang for your buck, for sure the Squier CV over the Made In Mexico. I have both the Squier CV tele and the Fender MIM tele. I can tell you for sure that the Squier is just as good if not better than the MIM. For what you save buying the CV, you can upgrade some things with the savings and have an even better more personally suited guitar. The CV tele's and strat's fit and finish is immaculate. Trust me, they have threads out there with people listing the serial numbers on those CV's. It's like a club now, they're that poplular. I've ordered a second one. JMO. Good luck

Re: Squire Classic Vibe or Mexican made!
I think im buying the 50's CV over the MIM, it just looks nicer, plays nicer.. sounds way nicer.. i think i'v made my choice .. thanks for all the replies
![]() and i found a pretty good "review" on youtube.. 60's CV 50's CV and a John Mayer Strat. found it pretty useful and hugo6969: i know a Squire CV dosnt sound as good as an American made, i could figure that out when i read it. |

Re: Squire Classic Vibe or Mexican made!
Classic Vibe is what I'd buy. I said before in another thread that when I played the Classic Vibe 50's Strat, it was just beautiful. The fit and finish, the feel, neck profile, the one-peice maple neck was virtually AAA flamed!!!! The plastics had a well done 50's look. sounded great with those Alnico's!!! The neck tint and fret job was fantastic!!!
Bottom line to me, seemed like something really really special in your hands, and for only $299. I would have figured it to be easily $599 MIM is certainly a great guitar for the money, but the meh pickups, neck tint, frets, finish........pretty good. But not lights out good like the CV Squiers. Didn't feel like anything special to me, and especially not for the extra cash. Now the MIM Classic Player 60's Strat in Sonic-Blue that I played.......Oh man!!!! That was killer!!!!! |

Re: Squire Classic Vibe or Mexican made!
I've been eyeballing the CV Tele & I like what I see so far.
Just need to find a shop that has one in ![]() Are we comparing the CV to the cheaper Standard MIM Tele here, or the MIM Classic series 50's Tele ? I had a MIM Classic Tele a few years back & it was a great guitar. Can anyone give me a pic of the CV Tele wiring/pots/switch etc. I suspect this will be where Fender have cut corners

Re: Squire Classic Vibe or Mexican made!
Yes, but no. They are Chinese made Alnico Vs, not American made Alnico Vs. The only similarity is the magnet material.
