What was your first electric guitar?
I went searching on the net for the first electric guitar I owned and found a picture of it. My parents bought it for me from Sears in about 1986 or 87. It had built in effects and everything! Too bad it didn't stay in tune worth crap and sounded like crap!
Here she is in all her glory! A Cort Effector! ![]() ![]() What was your first electric guitar? |

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
A 1973 Gibson Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst...I hated it because It was heavy and I was pissed because my parents bought me a "used" guitar...traded it on a Hamer Explorer.....Yes I'm an Idiot.

![]() My first guitar was a Univox "Morsrite" copy. It looked like the guitars The Ventures used to play. I think it was called a "Hi Flier" model or something like that. The neck on that guitar was incredible. I wish I still had it.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
My first electric? My parents bought me a ~1971 Toyota E355 replica (cherry sunburst) to replace my Kingston 3/4 folk guitar when I was 7. It lasted 7 years. It died during a school Christmas concert and was replaced by my Bradley LPC. To this day, I'm sorry my dad traded it in for the Bradley. I have never seen another one since.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
Mine was a black washburn with single coil pickups, can't remember what year exactly. Bought used in early 90's.
All I remember that it was sounded like CRAP!

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
Mine was a battered and bruised Hondo Doublecut, similar to the one below. I had it strung lefty and had a picture of Slashes Appetite for Destruction alter ego painted just behind the stopbar...It was a beast!

I see a cort effector listed on ebay, I'm half tempted to buy it just for nostalgic reasons, but it really was so crappy sounding!

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
'63 Fender Mustang.
![]() (The one in the pic is actually a '64, but it's pretty much the same guitar.) I bought it from a guy I was in a band with, plus a small Fender amp, for $35. This was back in prehistoric times, when vintage guitars weren't vintage yet. - D

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
I had a POS johnson strat copy. 3-tone burst, ugly headstock, and an ash (or something) veneer top. I decided to refinish it at some point and to my suprise, it was just an alder body with a super thing ash veneer on top.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
A brand new '74 Mustang. Neither myself or any of my guitar playing friends wanted some old used guitar from the '60's or God forbid something really old and used from the '50's! Nope, we wanted brand new guitars!!!
However, there was one guy at school that cheaped out and bought a used six year old Les Paul from 1968 because he couldn't afford a new 1974 Les Paul. Who knew? |

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
My first was a JC Penney Christmas Catalog guitar...circa 1984 I believe. This was a package deal- a Harmony Les Paul copy with a Harmony 10 watt amp. The Les Paul was a copy of the Gibson "Firebrand" Les Paul- walnut brown, two black open coils, with the toggle down at the volume and tone controls, also had a belly carve. I still have the amp, but the guitar is long gone

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
This was my first electric, a first act discovery FE 536, i currently am on my second and hoping to get a gibson les paul standard premium plus in cherry sunburst soon, my other one is a ocarschmidt OX series by washburn.
The picture of the washburn, thats me lying on the couch, my bands former bass player took that pic, he left cos he was too bossy, and there were lots of fights...
