Re: What was your first electric guitar?
Hey, Captcoolaid - what kind of pickups are in that Memphis you posted? They look like Bill Lawrences. I'm really curious, because I just bought an old Memphis with the same pickups online, partly in hopes that they ARE Bill Lawrences. Of course the guitar I bought doesn't look as nice as yours - its kind of a "studio" model.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
First guitar was a 1986 Washburn G10-v with the "Wonderbar" tremolo system.
And yes, I still have it (although it is a fixed bridge now, and covered with beer labels and 1/2 an inch of lacquer!)

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
Here's my first electric...a Les Paul Goldtop (darkback) copy by Crown International (Had a "C" with an "I" going through it on the headstock)
It was a great player--my friend put a SD SD Humbucker in it, and it was a rocker. My younger brother took it to CA when he left home, and pawned it for $$ for pot. I still have not forgiven him, but I replaced it many years later with an '03 R7 Braz. ![]() An after-church photo (by order of my Mum): ![]() ![]() BB

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
A 74 Gibson SG Special which I bought back in 1982. I still have it, been together 27 years, longer than some marriages!
![]() A pic of it next to my 70 Les Paul.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
This wasn't MINE, but it was the 1st i used on a regular basis. My dad bought it and then "gave" gave it to me, still have it. It was really hard to play cos it has a really high action. Glad I played something this beautiful.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
My first guitar in 1973 was a Teisco sunburst tulip body single pickup E-100 or E-110. I have no idea what happened to it but I think my younger brother was involved in it's disappearance. I actually found one exactly like it at the Orlando Guitar show a couple of years ago and bought that one for $45 cash with a gig bag. The original guitar cost $50 in 1973.
My second guitar was a Fender Musicmaster Bass (still have it today). It is a short scale, single pickup, Red body with a maple neck and came with a square silver/gray tweed case (like the Mustang). Purchased new in 1974 at Mel Bay Music in Kirkwood, MO along with a Fender Bassman 50 head and cab. I honestly don't remember what it cost but I would guess the guitar was about $250 and the amp was about $400. My third guitar (also still have it today) was an Aria LP copy Black Beauty Custom 2 Pickup with a hard case. It was a bolt-on neck but has the lawsuit headstock and was bought new in 1975 at Mel Bay for about $350. If I can find some pics, I will post them. |

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
ok, I will play! it was 1988, and I was 14! it was a Center stage CS350 made in Arlington TX!
Dig the bugle boy jeans in the second pic baby!!! Oh, and the girl in the polka dot dress on the far right had a twin sister in a black with white polka dot dress! I almost became a man that night, but the bass player was my dad I am 35 now and 21 years later I have never forgiven him for that!![]()

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
It was 1990. I painted my girlfriend's house and with the money I bought an MIJ black telecaster with a white pickguard. Sold several years ago.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
Mine was a mid 80's American Made peavy Predator (strat copy) that i still have today. I've sold it and bought it back several times. It plays IMO better than pretty much and foreign built Fender that I've ever played and as well as many of the newer American Made Fenders i've played.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
Avon LP copy, bought new for me in 1975 from a mail order catalogue. Hideous thing. Bolt-on neck, 1.5" slab body, single-coil pickups under HB covers.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
My uncle gave me an early 70s electra SG (pre lawsuit) with the bigsby and custom style headstock. From about 10 feet away it looks almost like a gibson. That guitar went everywhere with me and I am in the process of restoring it. It is a beautiful guitar and is a great player.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
My very first guitar was the Fender acoustic in the middle (DG16N I believe), the first electric was the Kramer Focus 111s Strat knock off. My 3 guitar was the far left Japanese ? guitar and my 4th was the Ampeg Stud (SG copy). The Stud is a heavy beast but has had a few crowns/levels in it's time and could use better pickups. I removed the Bigsby type trem, but have all the parts in storage.
This pic was recently taken by my little brother who I'm long term loaning all but the Tele to, he used Christmas/Birthday money for that one.
