Re: What was your first electric guitar?
I still have my first Silvertone guitar and amp that I got for my 10th B-day. And yes that's a Bobby Lee guitar strap.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
![]() Mine was a ~1971 Toyota Barney Kessel Semi-hollow. I had it for about 6 years. The electronics died during a school concert, the next day my dad traded her in the next day for my Bradley Les Paul.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
Summer of 78' one of my friends sold me a used P-Bass copy for $60. Then later that year I bought a brand new blonde Lotus Strat copy while I was down in Tampa Florida.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
My first electric was an early 70's Gibson SG-II. Bought it at a local shop for $300. Young and stupid I ended up trying to paint it in dayglo colors folowed by covering it with beer labels. Frets were worn to the point of not being able to play it anymore. I sold it a few years ago for $750.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
My first electric was a Chinese Squier Strat, it was almost brand new but the heroin-addicted owner only wanted £50 for it.... It was so terrible it almost doesn't count as a proper guitar. My second was a cheap but excellent value Gould LP copy in sparkle blue with surprisingly good pickups.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
some cheap import with a top mounted bridge in the wrong place (taught me about intonation to fix it) and crappy pickups (learned how to solder and mount standard humbuckers in a guitar using a hammer and chisel HA!). no truss rod and the neck was made of what appeared to be maple plywoos with the grain all running in the same diretion and the laminates were perpedicular to the fingerboard. i used 9's back then so there wasn't much strain on the neck anyways.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
A cheap little First Act Strat knock off. Black with white pick guard.
Three single coil pu's.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
A big old Harmony archtop with strings a mile off the fingerboard and a neck the size of a treetrunk. I soon traded it in on a '62 Gretsch Corvette that was a dream to play in comparison.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
My first was a 1960 Fender Jazzmaster. I did surf and Stones covers in the '60's with it. It is still in the family. Though it was a beautiful playing guitar, it wasn't a great lead guitar, compared to a Tele or a Strat. And the controls were so complicated. Up/down, right left, blah blah. Just give me two pups and let me play!

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
The classic black strat knock off with a forgetable brand name. It sucked. Bad. But it was my first guitar and at the time it was the coolest thing ever.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
Gibson The Paul II - Wine Red. My parents bought it for me for Christmas the year I started taking my guitar lessons very seriously. Maybe it's just because it was my first electric guitar and the one I grew up playing, but it's still one of the nicest feeling guitars I've ever played. I just recently took it out again, cleaned it, and set it up, and I just sat there for hours playing it because it felt so good. I also like the fact that it has much less of a dirty/muddy LP sound than my Standard.

I'd definitely like to put new tuners on it, though, as they feel a bit "loose" to me. Other than that, I've got zero complaints with this guitar and would probably buy a couple of them if they made them new again.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
mine was a Sam Ash Carlo Robelli SG from around '78 or '79. I put in a Dimarzio super distortion and the guitar sounded great. I experimented on the neck with a hammer to find out what the inside looked like. Now 20+ years later it sits naked (and modified) in my basement ,waiting for a new neck to be made.

That looks like Steve Morse's guitar.

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
My parents bought me a Westbury standard back in 79 for my xmas , a great guitar not a million miles away from a prs shape meets an sg , had di marzio super distortions as standard , powerful guitar and real nice to play , probably the reason i kept at it !

Re: What was your first electric guitar?
My first guitar was a Fender F-210 LH acoustic, which my son took and restrung as a righty. My first electric was a Cort Les Paul semi-hollow that I traded (with cash) for a LP custom. The Cort was a great guitar, but I'll never regret that trade.
