Re: Hamer Factory tour

I've played a couple. They are really nice guitars. I couldn't get over the blah headstock but they have some really nice tops.

I would like to have one of their flying V's - I've found them to be MUCH better than gibby's

Re: Hamer Factory tour

Cor Blimey Guv, I thought I was the only one who used an a 4'' angle grinder
to carve guitar tops.I love Hamer guitars always have,
great tour and great to see guitars made without million $ investment in CNC etc.

Re: Hamer Factory tour

I still have a Kaman GTX strat in dual sunburst finish that I bought back in the late 80s. From what I understand, Kaman eventually became Hamer guitars.

Re: Hamer Factory tour

Not exactly. Kaman Music (makers/owners of Ovation) bought Hamer in 1988. Kaman Aerospace sold Hamer and the rest of their music divisions to Fender this year.

Re: Hamer Factory tour

Exactly - Hamer has been making guitars since the early/mid-70s.

Re: Hamer Factory tour

Years ago I had an amazing Hamer Chaparalle, black, original Floyd that I sold to an old friend. It STILL is an amazing axe. But it seems Hamer are not making em anymore. Sadly. And the shapes they have been making of late are to my eyes at least, not attractive..... accept for the Explorers and Vs.

I stopped in a local Gordon Price music and checked out a Korean made Hamer Explorer. I was totally blown away by the build quality, and how it felt and played. The Korean build quality has come a long way since the old days.

Re: Hamer Factory tour

Hamer guitars have better quality control than Gibbys.

Buy any American made Hamer and you will not be disappointed.

I can't speak from direct experience, but unless you are willing to pay $2,500 and up, there is a likelihood there will be a disappointment somewhere with a Gibby.

You can get 3 good-great Hamers for the same price as one Great Gibby.

Hamerfanclub.com

There members collect. Many play gibbys. but many own 5-10 Hamers.

Re: Hamer Factory tour

I bought a Hamer Studio in 1995 (actually it was a generous gift from my dad) at a store that was losing the line so they were blowing them out. I think it was $800 new!

It is, and has always been the most reliable guitar I've ever owned. I actually broke the headstock in about 2004 but had it repaired and have had no problems since. It has seen more abuse than any guitar I've owned and I have taken it on European tours, had it in the back of uninsulated trailers going through the mountains, etc etc....and I haven't even set it up since the neck break!!!

If I can only have 1 guitar for any session, or tour, etc etc....it'll always be that one. The only downside is it looks like a damn PRS, ha!

Hamer xoxoxoxox forever!!
