Smile new pics of my Epi Firebird VII

Hi there...

grabbed my Epi Firebird VII out of its stand and hold the cam onto it... here
are some results...

all the tortoise bits are selfmade by me...

It does not only look good, it plays very well, too. I rollled the fretboard
edges, replaced the nut to get a little wider spacing (like a Gibson) between
strings and the toggle needed to be exchanged some time ago...

Greetings

Rrowwrr! Those tortoise-shell bits really do the trick with that gleaming gold!

Love the look. The gold is way too cool, as is the tail piece.
Must sound great too!

Smile Re: new pics of my Epi Firebird VII

...it sounds very good... not as fat as a full-size humbucker and not so edgy as real single-coil. And the blend-in of the middle-pu to the other two creats some sweet sounds... Unfortunately I can't compare it with a Gibson FB. I have never had one in hand yet...

btw: ...the tail-piece is made of gold-plated aluminium. The top-wrapping kind of brings back the honk that it had with the original vibrato, which did not stay in tune very good.

Re: new pics of my Epi Firebird VII

Hey friends! New to the forum! I picked up an Epi Firebird about a year ago really cheap. It is "vintage white" and has all gold hardware. 3 Mini-hum's and the vibrato. The finish has several cosmetic issues and I am serisously thinking about repainting it. Also, it doesn't seem to stay in tune that well. I am 99% sure this has something to do with either the tuners or the vibrato. Unfortunatley the previous owner tried unsucessfulle to remove the vibrato bar and stripped the screw. I have been playing guitar for years and would love to take this baby on the road with me, but it needs some TLC. Anyone have any advice on stripping/painting and a possible cure for my tuning woes?
Thanks!
Joe

You might start a new thread in the Luthier's Corner or Custom Shop, or in the "Okay... Ask Greg" thread in the Luthier's Corner.

As for the OP - that is one GREAT looking Firebird!

Re: new pics of my Epi Firebird VII

The Steinberger gearless tuners that I put on my Gibson 2009 Firebird V work wonders for fine tuning and staying in tune.
