PRS McCarty Korina
I just purchased one of the new Korina McCartys. It is very sweet looking and is one of the first 500 made, so it has a Brazilian rosewood fretboard. If anyone can tell me how to get pics uploaded here, I will post them - I am not that tech-wise.

Re: PRS McCarty Korina
Scooby-
You got something special there. Yes PRS was producing a limited edition of the McCarty Korina they were planning on making only 500. But they offered the "Brazilian Rosewood" with "Bird" inlays as an optional feature. Here's why yours is so special: PRS was able to place the Brazilian Rosewood on only "70" McCarty Korinas!!! This is why...When PRS made it's "Single Cut" our friends at Gibson got them twisted because they said it looked too much like the Les Paul, out came the corporate lawyers, but, you can't license a body shape, so poo on Gibson. When Gibson found out PRS was making the McCarty Korina (incidentally named after a former president of Gibson USA) they decided to make it out of Korina body and neck and Brazilian Rosewood Fret board the same materials used on the original 1954-1957 Flying V's and Explorers! Again Gibson gets them twisted but can't do anything legally against PRS. So Gibson calls the EPA and gets them to go after PRS for using the Brazilian an "Endangered Protected Species"!! The EPA goes into PRS and shuts down production; NOTHING with Brazilian is getting out of the place. Luckily PRS had completed and shipped to it's dealers "70" of the McCarty Korinas, and you have one of them! The rest of the McCarty's have Indian Rosewood. Whatever you do... DO NOT GET RID OF THAT AXE!!!!! The EPA thing is very recent and the investigation is still going on so this has not hit the press yet, but it will and when it does!!! Here are two more PRS McCarty Korinas with the Brazilian Rosewood. The one on the left of the screen belongs to my friend and guitar broker and the one on the right is mine! He sold three more and we are waiting to get them all together for one big group photo... they are all Vintage Natural finish! Copy of P1010011.jpg P1010009.JPG The Braz grain on my fretboard... Mmmmmm ![]() PS my serial number is: 7 126906 what's yours?

Re: PRS McCarty Korina
How would a "newbie" be able to be sure they had a Brazlian model in their hands? Is it just hte first 70 serial numbers or is their a clear signature way that a novice like me could tell?
Thanks. |

Re: PRS McCarty Korina
I would first check the case candy, even the hang tags if they're still available, anything that would list the braz fretboard.
You could contact PRS Customer Support Center | Contact Us give them your serial number and they could tell you. Even post some photos of your fretboard, someone should be able to tell you by looking at it.
