The 2010 UK MLP International Fete (Meet)

I had a chat with Phil over the phone this afternoon, and we discussed our initial thoughts over putting together a UK Meeting in 2010.

The following matters came to mind, and we will be looking to firm up the details in the forthcoming months.

1. Date of event
The venue has now been confirmed as the Crown Inn, Bridport, West Dorset England. The date: Friday 21st May 2010. **Updated 3 Dec 2009--BB**

2. Venue
The location would be in the vicinity of Phil's, and he is confident that he can get a venue to accommodate all our needs.

3. Accommodation in the locality
Again, Phil believes accommodation is available in his area, and outside the main holiday period, as proposed, should not be too expensive.

4. Additional players
With Phil's extensive contacts, he should be able to arrange for a rhythm section to be there, and his daughter to be there to warble, if needs be.

5. Backline
Excellent backline will be provided (as long as nobody wants to play a Banjocaster through it! - only kidding!!!)

6. Time period for the event
This would obviously be flexible according to individual's ability to attend. However the main period would be Saturday, with the event being from the afternoon into the evening. So, depending on your wishes, arrival could be sometime Friday, with an evening get-together spent in some hostelry, or Saturday morning. Departure would be Sunday.

So, that's the initial planning. Please let us know if there is anything that has been missed.

We hope to provide sufficient notice for those in the UK to make the necessary planning, and we would be delighted if any members from outside the UK were able to make it.

Watch this space for updates/developments.

The venue will be at the Crown Inn, Bridport, West Dorset England. May 2010 ( exact date to be finalized, but probably in May )

For Train, bus, road and air links to the event , please keep a look out for future thread, or PM John Vasco or Phil47uk for more information.

There are always crowds at Stonehenge. Doesn't mean they're all f*ckin' Druids...

They came by clouds and thunder, the Horsemen! Angels cried,
Apocalypse is now and how, the time has come to die!

Sounds good, John. I was just thinking about this event and counting fishhooks, beads and clam shells. By the by, are wives welcome? I may very well have to pack mine.

No problem with wives attending, I expect Anne will be with me.

It's a serious event (in that we are going to make such arrangements that everything will go smoothly), and we are going to make it happen next year. I know there's a 'jokey' side to me and Phil, but we are deadly serious on this meet-up. The backline will be what ever amp Phil has, and I will bring my two Mesa Boogies (an F-50 and an Express 5:25). Every one else will just need to bring their instrument and effects pedals.

As one who has clubbed hard and drunk hard from the day she met me, there's nothing that will scare, intimidate, or shock 'er indoors, believe me! Not even you, mate!

Great idea John.. We''l hold the UK MLP guitar meet down here. Yeah I'll get a venue in the shire.
I bet old Hawksworth and Compton would be down for it too.
Get the old septics and Canuks over and show those colonials how us Brits put the balls back into rock and roll..

The point is, will they be able to take us without having a nervous breakdown.
Ya know what Drude is like after a few pints.
Can we get a sticky on this?

We'll give em a warm British nutters welcome.

And for those colonials that can't understand what we are talking about we'll get in Mr Gumby to talk slowy for them.

Well myself, Phil and Cookie will be sharing roll-ups...

And we could always throw a six skinner together and slink off for 10 minutes
