I'll send you the latest numbers by PM. Things are still changing. Only yesterday, a UK member who lives nearby to your county said they will attend, and that may happen a few more times between now and when the event takes place.

Put me down for Sunshine Of Your Love by Cream (I'm sure the sidemen know it) and Dani California by the Red Hot Chili Peppers (I can provide chords if necessary).

Prince Phil the 47th,

After looking at the photos of the Crown Inn, it appears they have a nice garden and patio. Weather permitting, would the local constabulary allow our world famous Guitar Extravaganza to take place outside. You could convince them that our event would bring worldwide acclaim to the little village. After all, participants are attending from New York and Dallas! We might give Glastonbury a run for its money!

Re: The 2010 UK MLP International Fete (Meet)

Oooh I have some good news

Well.. don't count me in, because anything could happen in next few months but..
I found out that school is out on 25th May this year and as long as there ain't no bloody snow days (snow = no school = added days on end of year).. I can ask to pull him out early as long as he does his year end tests first. Meaning.. I might well be able to attend!!

Now I have to work out flights and how to get down there from West London. I will be staying around the Ealing/Heathrow area. I really don't want to go into Central London for a train if I can help it. Phil..could you help me there please, any stations nearer to me that I can take the train from, to down there?

I may stay a few nights down there, take up the fresh air and scenery

Re: The 2010 UK MLP International Fete (Meet)

Instead of the helicopter that we Texan rockabilly stars usually take to Guitar Extravaganzas, I think me and the wifey will take a train from London to Salisbury, rent a car, then drive-on-the-wrong-fucking-side-of-the-road on the A354 to Dorchester, then the A35 to the lovely Bridport. On the way back, we'll stop by for a visit with the Ancient Stones (no, not Mick and Keith!) in the Salisbury Plain. The wifey said she must be drug induced into riding in the same car with me...

Us "locals" will help out with transport as best we can. I'm sure noboby will struggle to get to the gig!

Will do. We have traveled to London at least a dozen times from Dallas. Fares have ranged from $390 - $980 round trip per person on BA or AA. I'll check the fares every week or so. I get fare sale emails from British and American Airlines, so I'll forward to you when received. The latest "package" deal from AA or BA is 7 nights at a nice hotel in South Kensington + roundtrip airfare for two @ $3,400. Not bad.

Re: The 2010 UK MLP International Fete (Meet)

Thanks Drude The thing is I may well be going down there earlier, I will have to work out my plans. I think I have a relative that has moved that way so I am going to get in touch with her first.
Also you may have someone from up North who may want that seat, I don't mind taking the train. Thank you though Mr Yorkie

Nsureit, thank you too. Yeah I have gone from Dallas before or via Dallas.
I am checking out prices to fly from where I am, but I usually have to go via Chicago to UK. No direct flights from here.
I was thinking if there were some great deals direct from Dallas, it may work out cheaper to get a Southwest plane to over your way (or Love Field) then go from there. (DFW)
Tickets can be as low as $49 one way with SW, so I will keep options open.
Heathrow is my preference, I know usually is is slightly more expensive than Gatwick but when I consider the cost of bus or train from Gatwick to where I will be staying near Heathrow, it works out even. But I will keep options open either way

I won't need a hotel thanks, I will be going back to my old neighborhood and staying with friends and be visiting family around England.
Handy for me, saves money lol

I doubt if you'd want to do that nsureit. It's right on a roundabout which is off the main coast road south. Maybe slightly too noisy re traffic, plus the fact that a May evening here in the UK might prove not quite the same temperature wise as Texas.

Close, but no cigar:
"No. Only chips with vinegar. That's all. Now, bomb England!" 'Bomben auf England' was a famous Luftwaffe song in 1940 that perversely, the Luftwaffe crews hated! That was the piss-take on that sentence.

Sorry Harmony. haven't been in here much the past couple of days as I'm rushed off my feet with guitars and missed your post... By the end of this evening I will have been playing guitar for around 13 hours ( And that's just today ).
Yes I'll find out about the trains.. Probably best to get on at Basingstoke if you are near Heathrow and get the train direct down to Axminster in Devon. Devon is just over the border here in furthest west Dorset and about fifteen mins by car from the gig along the coast road.
We'll go into it in more detail when I get a few minutes to myself to check out the map.

Phil..

With you consulting a map she'll probably end up in Kent! Well, what do you expect from someone with a glass eye and a wooden leg!

Phil..
Basingstoke is 20 minutes from me. I'll pick up any London stragglers from there and ship 'em to dorset. You may be surprised who's already in my truck!!

London stragglers.
Cheers Cookie, I will keep that in mind. Basingstoke ain't that far from where I'll be I think.
When are you going down? On the day? And going back?

thanks for the invite john, i guess we could attend depending on a deffinate date as we absolutely love dorset.

my other half had a suggestion

the electric palace bridport

she has played gigs at this venue and loves the place, could be an idea for the event as she also knows the owner and could arrange something perhaps??
