Back to you shortly.
Great if you can make it nsureit.. Love to meet you.
Yeah I played the Bridport music festival with Mutter Slatter a few years back.
Blimey..It's a small world eh?

Thanks for all the effort, Phil and John in putting this all together. This is indeed a big deal will no doubt be a great success.
So glad you can come Von Bek.. Look forward to it..

I'm probably coming armed with my MIJ Telecaster, otherwise referred to as the "canoe paddle". It's smaller, lighter (and cheaper) than my LPs. Plus, somebody's got to "TWWWAAAANNNNGGGGGGG"!!!

Plus, I rigged mine up with EMG-T actives that were made for the Tele. The sound of this guitar is....uhhhh, errrrr.....unique.

No way!

I'll bring the Lester Polfus Custard, the Deluxe, the two Messy Budgies, and blow all those shitty Banjocasters away.

UPDATE

OK people, I have booked the venue for Friday the 21st of May 2010.

Now it's up to you guys to get it all together.
I have spoken to the owner and mentioned about food and he will lay on a buffet for however much we have to spend.

Now we need definite numbers..

Good work Phil and John. What a team!

What time does it all kick off?

Does it make sense to work out who is playing what songs beforehand?

Re: The 2010 UK MLP International Fete (Meet)

Thanks guys, but the credit is with you..Without you lot there wouldn't be any meet.

I reckon we could kick of the music about 8.30- 9pm and have something to eat first, thereby giving time for those who need an alcoholic beverage to get themselves mellowed out.

The next thing to dicuss are the sidemen, as I'll book them well in advance too.

Do you want just bass and drums, or do you want a keyboard player as well.

I'll pick a few guys that are just solid and dependable. No flash prima donnas needed on this one I feel.

Shit, I don't drink and that's close to my bedtime!

ACCOMMODATIONS: Phil, could you give me contact information for local lodging in Bridport (or surrounding area) for that night. We will be staying in a flat in South Kensington while in London.

Re: The 2010 UK MLP International Fete (Meet)

sounds fun to me...

it being in bridport, will i have to bring a specific accent and/or sense of humour to blend in?

regarding a keyboard player; if you remember the scene from, "the good, the bad and the ugly" – this captures my opinion; "keyboard player, we don't need no stinking keyboard player..."
my preference = merely strings and drums. "but i wont make a fuss."

coming from the colonies, i will be bringing only a guitar sans amp.

is there a local music store where i can rent one?

will i meet the beatles?

or at minimum, will i shake the hand of someone who has met one of the fabs?

will drudeboy speak to me?

well, i have gone over my words used limit and fighting the impulse to start italicising... i do not want john v. to revoke my landing permit.

going to start brushing-up on tuning.

hi ho silver lining,

ray

Re: The 2010 UK MLP International Fete (Meet)

Perhaps it may be a good idea for everyone to put down what they would like to play..Key etc.
Obviously let's keep it simple people. We can't expect side men to set aside a day of their time learning an arrangement of Bohemnian Rhapsody for one person.
If it's any more than a 12 bar etc, perhaps a simple chord chart might be handy.
I'll have to have keys and some information on chords ie..Goes to Cmaj 7th at the bridge or whatever.
If we are to keep things running smoothly we can't have the Vascos of the forum saying.."Well it sort of goes like this. Lardy dardy dardy dum dee dum, with a funny chord in the middle somewhere".

Talking of Vasco..has anyone seen the old bugger of late? He PM's me telling me to go ahead with the booking and then dissapears.

Silly old sod..

I was posting a lot this afternoon, when you were swanning around a posh school pretending to teach guitar.

Your next task is to find out what accommodation is available in your area, and at what price.

You've got to do feckin' something, as you're the only one not doing any travelling. So, arse in gear again, oh crotchety one, and keep the momentum going.

Re: The 2010 UK MLP International Fete (Meet)

X-Ray,

Backline amps will be provided;
No Beatles will be there;
Yes you can shake the hand of someone who has met one of the Beatles;
Will YOU want to speak to Drudeboy...?
No over-italicising will be allowed. I will fly over the Bridport area in my Messerschmitt 110 as people arrive, and any miscreants who over-use such things will have 'ze bomben dropped on zer heads!'

Does that answer your questions, old bean?

I shall be twanging some 12-bar on my Telecaster.
