I was close to buying a GFS LP kit, but another member here bought one and had the same problems with the neck pocket that you describe. I chickened out and bought the parts to put together a Tele instead.

I'll follow that thread to the end. I wasn't kidding when I said you ended up with a great-looking guitar. Nice work.
