The thread below on the Gibson forum is dead, but it links to a clip on YouTube with a weight relieved one and a chambered one. Same pickups and pickup height, same amp with the same settings, same guitarist and same tunes played: Chambered vs. Weight Relieved Test 2 - Les Paul - Gibson Forums
Too bad the thread died before was revealed which guitar produced which sounds.

I might be in the market for something between now and twelve months, so I want to know as much as possible about what has changed in all the years I didn't play.

    thanks again,

    Vincent

    Hello LPV,

Thank you for getting back with me so quickly. I've already made up my mind about these, I like them. They're different, but certainly not in a bad way. On top of that, my neck, shoulder and back like them as well. I'v read up on a lot of threads on this forum and various other pages on the web. Cloud9guitars.org was a great help before the lawyer of some nitwit made it go off-line. I also gathered a nice collection of about 15 x-rays, guitars under construction and miscellaneous pics. But I could find nothing on the modern chambering on the new USA Standards.

The picture you showed is for the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra, you can see there's more wood inside on the bass side where the tummy cut is. I don't know why on earth Gibson put that on their page about the USA Standards!

Read all the posts prior to making up your mind on the subject. Chambering has a very long history at gibson.http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/gibs...hambering.html I could tell you further about why I personally prefer them but it comes down to tone and feel for me.

There aren't many pics around of the standard's chambered but I ** believe ** that this is accurate prior to the new 08s that have more wood around the tenon.
