This is a beautiful 2001 R9 with AAAAA Killer top and wild flame that came in a special MM case. It's not only gorgeous, it sounds so resonant, woody - the body REALLY informs the pickups - that I am amazed by it. Weighs 8.5lbs. SOLD IN DEC 09

It's named for the large V the flame makes on the bass side of the lower bout. It doesn't hurt that my wife's last name is Valentine, either!

I bought this before I knew what I was really looking for. It's a GREAT guitar, but about a pound heavier than what I can handle. It went to a wonderful home here in Rochester, NY.

I bought this guitar in 1970 from a friend whose parents got it for him brand new in 1969. Paid $350. In 1976, I had the third pickup added (dumb). Once that third pickup was in place, it became hard to play (pick clearance). Anyway, after that, it sat in its custom Gibson Artist Series case until 2005 when I sold it. It was heavy, weighing in at 10.9 lbs. Kinda wish I hadn't sold it - this was the guitar I learned how to play on! Had Fretless Wonder frets.

I bought this as a workhorse guitar in 1985. It's weight and sound was just perfect. I sold it in 2006.
