If there are any micro-scratches, those can be buffed out most likely. But a guitar is meant to be played. I'm not too worried about mine getting nicks and scratches. I want it to have some character... not saying I'm going to abuse it, but I want to get it worn in and show some signs of wear.

I haven't cleaned mine, and I don't really plan to any time soon. I'll only clean it when it has some crazy smear marks from the oil on my hands. I want it to look like it gets played.

A scratch here and there won't decrease the value any. But if you want to keep it looking nice, and you play it a lot, then just give it a quick buff/clean with the Gibson pump polish whenever you change the strings.

Congrats on the new LP! I've had mine not even 8 weeks yet, but I haven't picked up any of my other guitars since I got my Goldtop.

    Hi,

I have since last week-end a LP Trad' Goldtop, the same as you. I read some of your post about it.
I already love it... This is my first Gibson and I want to keep it nice.

What do you think about the finish and especially how to take care of it ?
My local dealer gave me a bottle of Gibson Polish Pump, and didn't try it yet.

I already saw some micro-scratches (very little ones, I need artificial light to see them) on the top and I don't want to make new scratches.
I plan to use this Gibson Polish and a very soft clothe once a month let's say.

Do you have some tips to take care of our Goldtops ?
Did you notice you "damage" the finish when cleaning it ?

    Thanks a lot,
    See you !
    Pierre.
