Just as El Becko has reinvented himself over time, so has the Social Group
It appears there is much overlap between “Jeff Beck, his guitars, related stuff...” & “Jeff Beck Social Group”
Such as, photos/topics posted earlier in the Social Group later appear in “Jeff Beck, his guitars, related stuff...” thread – at times, conversely
While “Jeff Beck, his guitars, related stuff...” is predominately focused on photos & video clips, the new thread will consist of mixed topics, information, articles & other Beck–related news... with photos naturally
It is hoped by relocating (“The Cellar”) the former “Jeff Beck Social Group” along with a new name, “Jeff Beck Related Articles & News” – this increased distinction & visibility may engender more “visitor traffic” by the average mylespauler, as well as increased participation / contributions by established JB appreciators...

    Zach,

I love that amp. It's a great AC15 amp with a lower price tag. It has the jangle and sparkle of a Vox amp. I have 2 VOX tube amps, 1 hybrid and 2 solid state.

I love VOX. The AC15VR will keep up with a drummer but you can dial it down like a edroom amp. Even the Pathfinder 15R combo at $119 is a great amp. I know guys who mic them and gig them. The little Pathfinder 15R combo is a really popular practice amp with many older tube snobs. It doesn't have goofy modeling gadgets; just master, pregain, bas, treble, tremolo and a real spring reverb. I bought the AC15VR because of how much I like playing the Pathfinder late at night.

    Spanky VOX Cleans.

Crunchy transparent overdrive where you can hear your guitar tone and personality come through. It has a button on the overdrive channel that kicks the gain into into super metal and I never use that. I'm sure they wanted to market the the amp to all styles.

    I like it!

Excuse me, but I ran across your videos on youtube of the AC15vr. May I ask how you like this amp? I may be looking at it seeing as my 15w tube amp is too loud for my use, and there is a problem that I cannot fix and will have to send it off. I may look to downgrade to a SS (or technically a VR..but they are the same) amp since it is more suited to what I need.

Is it good for cleans and crunch- I mean, with the effects right on the amp? And how does it sound in general.

Sorry to barrage you with questions, but thank you.

    Thanks for the input John!

I won't be making a decision/purchase for a little while so I'm going to get out and play them again. I also want to try the Blues Deluxe.

I really did like the sound of both amps... the Princeton did sound a little better at low volumes, but I want something that stays pretty clean at loud volumes. I can always put a pedal in front of it to 'dirty' it up. I guess that would make the DRRI the early leader.

I have a 15 watt (Orange TT combo) that works great for slighty dirty to full on roar at jam levels... so I have that covered.

Cool video.... thanks, I hadn't seen that. He is a great player, and the amp sounds sweet.

    Thanks again,

    Barker

The Princeton is the warmest amp that I've ever owned but I take the Deluxe Reverb to jam sessions and gig-like environments.

Either amp will keep up with a moderate drummer but the DRRI is 22 watts with a huge magnet on the speaker. You can crank a DRRI and keep it icy clean if you want. The Princeton will break up and get a bit farty.

For home practice the Princeton is a dream amp but you're talking 15 watts and one 10" speaker.

The DRRI takes pedals very well. I think the Deluxe Reverb has been used in more studio recordings as far back as Abbey Road than any other amp. A DRRI is a solid piece of equipment.

If you want to hear a Princeton on 10 listen to Jim Campilango.....

    Jim is amazing.

    Have a great day,

    Hey studio,

I saw in one of your posts you play a Fender Princeton and a Deluxe Reverb. I'm on the hunt for a new amp and both of those are on my radar. I was just wondering your opinion(s) on the two, and how they hold up in a band situation? I have played both, but only at volumes that are acceptable in a small store. I really liked the Princeton, but I wonder how much it breaks up when played at volumes loud enough to keep up with a drummer?... or can if it keep up with a drummer? I want something to jam with that doesn't get "too hairy" when played loud. I know the Deluxe Reverb would have no problem, but the Princeton really caught my ear.

    Cheers,
