    Thanks for the reply,

Much appreciated if you can find one when your back home.

I found the Dr Vintage page for reference:1950's Gibson Electricals half way down the page for photos.

The same as these Centralab 53's solid shaft, for volume would they be 500k or 250k?
    Thanks.

    Hi, Simon,
Can i ask you some advice?
I am thinking about ordering a guitar online (sight unseen etc).
It's just that our dollar has such good buying power now for Gibsons, and Gallins Guitars seem to be on crack!!

What method of payment have you used to the seller?
And what type of shipping have you used to get it to Melbourne safely?
Any advice would be most welcome.
    Cheers,
    Steve.

    Congratulations on the new guitar!
I'm happy you found one,i kind of got cold feet when i offered you my 54.
I felt slightly disappointed in it compared to my 57(sound wise,3 pickups are so versatile).
But i'm appreciating it's individualism more now.

    Simon,
It comes in a Custom shop red lined case,no certificate for that model that year, and i'm looking for $3200- just spent $150 on a comprehensive set up as well.

    Cheers,
    Steve.

Now about the 54, all mahogany body, it is an excellent sounding guitar and in very good condition for a ten year old guitar with some minor wear and tear.
Black finishes always seem to look a bit scuffed in natural light!
I actually had it serviced just 2 weeks ago, fret dress, intonation, action ,pickup adjustment ,strings etc.
My dilema is that both of my Customs feel identical(neck profile ,weight etc) but my 57 is preferred because of the variety of 3 humbuckers, and i dont think they sound different enough for me to play the 54 much.
However p90s are very powerful and distinctive and the alnico V is a unique pickup as well.
I pretty much have recently decided to sell it because i want more variety and am thinking about a goldtop with a maple top.
If you are interested in it, I am in Bayswater and would be happy for you to examine and play it if you are thinking about buying.

    Hi Simon,
Yes i got them both this year from ebay of all places!Sellers who bought them and didn't bond for one reason or another.
The 57 i bought just 2 weeks ago from a guy who had it in a case and on the wall for 10 years!
The 54- pretty much the same story, the sellers both told me they had them shipped.

    I think and i have been told that reissues from that era are superior than reissue from today for these reasons;
Less mass produced than today(smaller amount made then, more care and time and quality control)
Also i can notice the thinner finish has sunk into the wood, the wood has certainly matured and dried out more.

Hi Steve, unfortunately I already bought the Lollars! If I ever replace the P-90's in my TV Yellow doublecut I'll definitely look into the Brierleys
