As much as I liked the WCR's, I had to go double cream. I got a decent deal on a set on the bay (Firesound PAF's; holy crap...perfect Solo Album tone). I then had to change the plastic, of course. Any new purchases lately?

Thanks, bud. I'm leaving it as is, after playing it for a week or so. It came with some WCR Fillmores in it, and surprisingly it has a really good early Ace tone to it that I don't want to mess with. The best way to describe it is a lot of crunch (not mush) when playing chords, and very bright/defined single note tone when playing lead. Very Alive!-ish...It cuts through the mix, for sure...

It's a 1996 Standard; so far, all I've done is remove the "Standard" truss rod cover and bought some Grover Rotomatics for tuners. It came with some Planet Wave locking tuners. They work well, but I just don't want them on here. I thought long and hard about putting some Kluson's on just to get the "early" look of Ace's tobacco burst, but went for function over fashion (so to speak).

J; I'd love to hear about how you found this guitar, purchased it, and what your opinions are after playing it. Like how it sounds, how the shaved heel plays, etc. There's been a lot of discussion about the guitar, but I'd be seriously interested in hearing the feedback from a serious fan of Ace's.
