Hello singlecut i tried to send you a message but it seems to have failed ;o)
well lets do it again!
I am interested in buying a 60's Melody maker and i wanted to ask you some questions about these guitars cause you seem have a good knowledge about them.
I always wanted to have an old guitar, but only if it can bring pleasure when played every day. A few month ago i have seen a picture of a 64 double cut double pickups MM with a black to orange burst finish, i realy loved the look of that one and since i think about having one. (yes i know you like more the single cuts)
I can only buy one on the bay, and not play it before because i'm in France and we don't find easily these guitars here. (...)
(...)
So here are my questions :
- do you think its a good idea to buy an old MM to play with it or i will have more problems than satisfactions (microphonics, tuning, etc...)?
- If i try before a new MM in a shop will i have a similar sound and feeling (same neck ?)
- Is there differences between the first MM and the last 65 ? pickups, neck profile, angle of the headstock ... (i've read the Sg shape took place in 66, but i'm not interested on those ones i like more the originality of the first ones)
- What do you consider an honnest price for a good MM dc 2 pickups ?
Thank you and apologize my english )
Olivier
