Yeah, perhaps as a lark. But I enjoy at this point in my life being able to speak my own mind without reservation. Retirement IS great. "They Can't Take That Away From Me"

My copy of "History" has a grey background, not beige. And my collection already had almost everything covered, but the key word there is "almost". It was serendipitious that what was missing led me where it did.

Seems pretty pretentious to have a "History Of" album at that point, doesn't it? Not on his part, but still...

Guitar Boogie! Yup, thats it! That History of Eric Clapton, I remember seeing it in the stores back when and never bought it. I never heard it played. I had a lot of other Clapton albums and figured I had most of the material covered. Guitar Boogie! that was the one. Had lots of 1:50 - 2:00 min songs with lousy recordings, but some great material. Wow, that was a nice flash back. I haven't thought of that album in years.

    Which led me here:

which I have on vinyl to this day. And which led me John Lee Hooker and so on, and so on...

"Yep - you remember "Tribute to Elmore"? Thats exactly what I was alluding to, 'to Elmore' was from that old Page, Clapton, Beck all stars album wasn't it? (Guitar Boogie???) It had cartooned images of the 3 on the cover with really warped guitars. I used to have that in vinyl years ago.

Better yet I was throwing in some simple Elmore James style double stop licks that sounded real sweet.

From what I remember of the other take this one sounds better, the notes in the chords are more defined. Nice. What melody or solo? wow, I hear an endless number. As to the flavor and tone and style of lead, I think something modeled on Pages solo in the slow section of the Lemon Song (where he has that call and response with Plant - not the call and response itself but the tone and melodic phrasing of this section would be awesome here. I'm sitting here with my epi acoustic doing that right now! You've made a fun track!
