I like the P90s, very much, but they dont lend themselves to the same harder style that the SG guitar lends itself to (I totally agree a Twin or other Fender would be better suited for it) If/when I take the P90s out of the SG, I will put them into something else (likely a Epiphone Casino, or a Gibson Es-330 should I come across one at a good price when I have money) that sounds better wth the softer nature of the P90s.

I'm listening to your mix now, so far so good. If/when we get together again, I recall the theme that started off that SG jam, and that outro bit is a regular peice of my arsenal, so we could easily duplicate it. It would be best too if we set up one amp and both used it, so we could maintain a better consistancy

Yeah, I really like the SG, its more inspiring somehow. I'm alot more convinced to swap out the P90s for some sort of HB. With the amp cranked and the tubes in full on saturation mode, p90s dont have enough 'cut'

Sorry I missed your call, I was sleeping, let me know when you want to meet up so I can give you back your memory stick. Either tomorrow or Saturday after work I will be heading down to L&M if you want to meet there

    Eq'ed it, eh? Trickster!

I did find the same cut - but though I agree with your starting point, I cut my own version off, with fade-out, at 4:08. I did determine what bugs me about it, and it's a valuable lesson: I was experimenting with playing fingerstyle, and there's one 16th-note-triplet rhythm pattern/phrase that is sort of more comfortable to play than it is good to hear, and I ended up cornered myself into it, and even repeating it, and I didn't like it when I was doing it and I'm uncomfortable hearing it now - it's not terrible, it just sounds conflicted, to me - and it is, because there's a different impulse that I would rather follow, if I could make my hands go another way. But the awareness from hearing that "rut" will help me practice it out.

Wasn't so much pointing my amp at the mic as I was pointing it away from you and Darin - that damned thing hurts people if it's directed at them!

Very interesting, working with this stuff. Lots of rapid learning! Anyway. G'night!

My cut of Slow Blues, is from your recording, but I tweaked the EQing in Garageband, using the Master Track presets. If you want to find that segment, follow the progression, it was the 3rd or 4th time through that I started the fade-in. Somewhere around 3:48 if I recall correctly.

I thought you tone was great, I shoudve tried playing through your rig. I think part of the reason the bass sounds so dominant on the bits where I play guitar, is because you guitar sound was bigger/clearer, which I think kept the bass at bay. With my amp, it was the opposite. I realized I had set the amp towards you and Darren to get better monitoring; I wasn't point at the mic as you were.

Gotta take that back. Even though the guitar sounds better in your recording, the balance is a bit better in my recording, the bass tone is nicer and the drums sound better - for the slow blues. In the other recording, the guitar - your guitar - is just too quiet.

I really appreciate hearing your edits, they opened my ears a bit. Thanks for that.

Jeez, Ben, I think the clip you uploaded of "slow blues" sounds better than the recording I have! I don't know what to say about that, at all. Was that really from your mp3 recorder? I'm blown away ...

I might try to find that same slow blues section that you found and see how it sounds in my recording. It's funny, I listened to everything, too; I didn't hear what you heard, I guess. I just got kind of depressed! (My Twin sounds so much better than that amp, and I play better with it I think.) And I enjoyed playing bass, but - the balance is off. Ah, it's the moment that matters, the recording is just a reminder anyway.

One hitch though, is the bass is prominent on both tracks, its going to be hard (if at all possible) to EQ that down

Thats how I feel too, it is a bit too raw, but it works better overall than the other take I think. Maybe I'll spend some more time trying to blend to the 2. Both of those bits were continuous, with the blues take, I started a minute or 2 in and it was a pretty 5-6 minutes, then it got calm, and drawn out, it sounds good, but the more succinct cut will make it easier for others to listen too I think. The second track is pretty much the last half because I was way out of tune for the first part. I'm gonna try a few more things before I post anything, I want to try to get some more stuff too, I just worked on those 2 tracks so far
