i never got back to you on this, did i??? i'm so sorry!! i've been out to sea for the past 4 1/2 months or so, and got back a few weeks ago.
for the jcm 800 combo (if it's not too late....), you can either set the Pre/MV at around 3-6/4-6 into the high input for some real crunch, or if you like it a little more mellow and spanky for southern rock rhythm chords (skynyrd, allmans), plug into the low input and dime the preamp and get the MV as loud as you can stand. it gets better all the way up. with the preamp mashed on the low input, you bypass the first gain stage, but you can very easily step on a booster to get into fat saturated sound, plus you can use different flavors of boost for a wider variety of tones. i use a beano boost and a fulldrive 2 (set to compcut), which mix, match and stack fantastically. or just go into the high input and roll back the volume on your guitar or use picking dynamics.
i hope i'm not too late, but i'm sure i am.
    sorry!!

Yes, I live in Leicester. It's in very good condition. The only reason I am selling is that I really want a Norlin LP! Would like £850.
    Cheers,
    Nick

    Hi Nick

I know you said before about your reason for anonymity; just for the record; i wasn't meaning you - I'd hate for you to think that. I hope my post reached the right culprits lol

    Cheers

    Hiya Nick
The Greg Lake Stack i had in the 80's
was acquired through Phil Campbells' guitar Tech

All the old Prog Hippies loved the GREG LAKE stencilled flight cases
    and cabinet backs
I just thought Lake was an old Self Indulgent Bass player

Hi Nick that was quite a compliment - thanks!

I must add that although I got to grade 8 on guitar and piano within a short time, it is because it really became my life. I used to practice as soon as I got up, at break time and then one into the early hours once I'd gotten home!

Completely understand the anonymity thing with your job, that is quite a job you do too.

    Take care

    Matt

    Mine's 5 watts, (1) EL84 and (1) 12AX7. There's detailed pics in the build thread.

I have an oversized 2x12 but I've never tried it though that cab.

    Hey Nick,

My only tip is to find someone who will do it. It's something of a tight fit, but it can be done. I can give you the address of the guy who did mine, but he's here in California.
