Yes it is a good ways away-Being it's Guitar Center-I would think they would ship it to you and if you didn't like it, take it back as long as it is within their return time frame-

Mule-where do you live? There is a 339 at a guitar center in Indianapolis-

I played it a few times. It is nice but the fret board is dry. If I were to buy a semi hollow bodied guitar, the 339 would be it. It is very comfortable to play-

    Thanks a LOT!
    I`ve contacted Gibson.

This LP Studio, is a Standard, made in `91. The seller still claims it`s an `87, and a CUSTOM...
I decided to let him continue livin a lie

By the way, I've owned the 339 for a couple months now, played a few gigs with it, and I have to say it's the finest guitar I've ever owned. I'd swear that it acts a lot like a Les Paul. Maybe the center block has more effect than in a 335 since the body is smaller. It's just fabulous and even with the bigger neck, I just am in love with it. (I have ALWAYS been a very thin neck guy)

I'm sending this long message in 3 posts. -----I would never, ever have considered getting the thicker 50's neck, but read on. I have such a super thin neck attitude that I've had my last two guitars' necks (before the Les Paul) shaved and refinished. My 1960 335 had a super thin neck and it spoiled me. I did notice though, that a thinner neck seemed to have a little less punch. Anyway I walked into Guitar Center intent on buying the 60's thinner neck, but something led me to try the 50's also. There was almost no discernible difference.

It may not be that way on all of them, (remember they all differ because they're handmade, they say). But anyway, the 50's neck one seemed to sound fuller, so I bought the 50's neck!!!! I would have bought the 60's neck if both guitars had sounded the same, because that neck HAS to be smaller, doesn't it?- even tho I could tell SO little difference. Anyway, the salesman told me that the difference between the 50's and 60's on a Les Paul is MUCH greater than the diff on a 339. I can believe it. Again, though I would have bought the 60's neck had the guitar itself sounded fuller.

And I don't blame you. I would NEVER buy a guitar sight unseen, unless I had to. And if I had never even played one, ouch. But I do trust Gibson, especially on these Custom Shop 339s. So if you can get to a store, do it. If not, don't worry, you can always return it. What a hassle. By the way, my guitar didn't even really need a setup and I'm REALLY picky about setup, action, intonation, etc.

"Did you actually have that sensation that it "plays almost too easily" or are you shinin' me on?"

I did have the feeling like there isnt enough resistance when I play it.
I may be keeping that LP I've got a lot of complements on how good it sounds
Unfortunately none of the local stores have a 339 that I can play. So if I bought one it would be sight unseen and I hate the idea of doing that.
What neck did you get with it?
