Mike, I posted back in February after my Mom died regarding the 52 or 53 Gibson Les Paul ALL GOLD Goldtop that I inherited from her until I posted pics Then people changed their tunes(pardon the pun) My question to you about the guitar I own is The headstock logo is stamped into the headstock with the dotted i ,open b & o and I seem to remember my Mom having something done when I was about 10 or so at Al Weintraub's Musicland (I believe) here in Rhode Island. Possibly electronics because although I haven't found them yet, I think that I have the original wooden covers. I'm scared to remove the ones on there(possibly bakealight ??? or plastic) (I know) for fear of stripping screws or wood. Guitar Center wants to inspect the guitar for possible authentication/purchase but I'm having my doubts. I have contacted Sotheby's in Manhatten and am waiting reply If you would like I can be reached at(home 401-738-1719)or by cell (401-318-4338 or 401-871-3339)this might be your greatest find
