I understand what you mean, but the stock pots are not all that great and can make a big difference when swapped out so I thought I'd mention it. Is it wired modern or 50's style? Probably modern if it's still stock, you could always play around with that to. Let me know if you need any wiring diagrams.

Yeah I thought about the tone pots too, but I want to do things from easiest to hardest and see what happens. I am rather impatient when it comes to guitar work :-) Actually my main issue with the guitar is the bridge PUP. It is so much thinner and weaker output than the neck and I have to raise the crap out of it... Caps should come in some time this week. I will definitely keep the pots idea in mind! Thanks Jonesy.

Ok, thought maybe it had the mini's they are usually brighter sounding. You know a good set of 500K CTS pots might help out things tone-wise as well as swapping out the caps. I would think .022's would be what you want with those Humbuckers. Even .015 neck and .022 bridge.

No, right now it has the stock Gibson FB PUP's. I am making a few changes to sweeten the tone and get more sustain. I just received some string saver saddles and put the ABR-1 bridge back in (I had put a bridge with roller saddles). The tone is already a little sweeter and I got about 10-15% more sustain. Next will be the caps. I also have the option of installing some mid-70's Greco PUP's on the bridge and neck positions. Would love some Lollars in it but jsut don't want to cough up the mullah yet.

Greetings, I would not go any darker than say .033 bridge and .022 neck. From my experience I also prefer the paper in oil caps for a nice Fat warm, smooth Tone vs the Orange drops.

Hi Jonesy I was referred to you about capacitors. I am replacing the .022 ceramics in my 2004 Firebird VII with orange drops and wondering if I could get more meat out of the stock gibson PUP's by using .047's instead.
