Hi John.. I've talked to Mark A. extensively about the J-185, and he recommended to use white distilled vinegar to "bleach" the acid that makes up the volatile substance in the hot sauce -it didn't work. I've decided I'm going to do a partial refin, now that I have the skills to spray and tint. I reckon the top is the touchy part, as it appears to be a tinted spruce. I'm not worried about devaluation of the guitar, for I will never sell it, as it is my one "go-to" acoustic. I love it far too much to sell.

Hey Dave, Have you spoken to Mark Arnquist about the finish issue on the J 185? I wonder if you can remove the hot pepper color with some H202 and then simply use a burn in stick to replace the missing finish? that would be a lot easier than sanding and refinishing.
John...
