Rudi,
that sounds like a plan. Hopefully I can make it.
Thanx very much for the offer. Much appreciated, mate.

Not sure how I screwed this up but the following posted in my section rather than yours. LOL.
Shaun, my Avatar will more than likely be going to Sydney (Charles Cilia Guitars) for Michael Dolce to play (Voice's Main Guitarist). The Sheps will come out & the PAF's will then go in. You are more than welcome to drop by on a Saturday & play both options through some Bogner Custom Shop Amps, when it happens around mid year..........assuming you are happy to make the same trip to Chipping Norton twice.
You can also hear what Charles is winding which may or may not be of interest & check his guitars out.
Cheers, Rudi

Yeah. Totally agree(even though I,unlike your lucky ears/fingers,have never had the pleasure of playing a PAF equipped guitar.
It's funny,as Rayne doesn't like them. And I had a set if his tweaked Dirty Blondes with A2's that were loosely based on the Classic 57's but with more bark. They were going to be hard to beat, yet they did it!
Now if I could just get that mid pup in my B7 wound to the way I hear in my minds ear…
Got Bill, from Electric City, lined up ready for that.
Soon…

Top 40 hey. Think of it as practice. LOL.
I am really glad you like the Sheps. I found the same thing. I am generally not thrilled with A5's because they can sometimes sound harsh but he degausses them & they work.
From the little I know, have heard & seen I think these come pretty close to Vintage PAF's & for the money an absolute bargain.
Cheers, Rudi

Didn't gel with the band and decided not to go ahead and play Top40...ever again. What was I thinking, besides $.
LOOOOVE the Tribute's,Rudi!!!
I was expecting to have issues due to the A5's,but my god! I'm totally amazed with them.
Beautiful,woody/vocal old school honkin' tones. Just exactly what I was hoping and searching for.
Sounds great through the VOX's and 2203. Looooove 'em.
Expect a review just as soon as I make a vid/recording or something.
Take it easy,mate.

Hey Shaun, how did your audition go & have you tried those Sheps yet?
Hope all is well mate.
Cheers, Rudi

Hey Shaun, cool. Hope they work out for you. I have also heard from a few other forum members that A3''s sound great.
Good thing with the Sheps, if you don't personally like them you should get your money back if you sell them.
Good luck with your audition.
Cheers, Rudi

Thanx for that,Rudi.
Lo and behold, the Shep's turned up today. He also included 2 x sets of A2's & 3's(which I've found to be my fave combination of mags) just in case I didn't gel with the A5's.
These will go in my Trad that has a set of MHD Dirty Blonde's Rayne tweaked for me,that will be VERY hard to top. But I've just heard so much good talk about the Tribute's that I had to try them.
I have an audition on Monday night,so I'll wait until after then before messing around with my sound, which I am strangely and scarily extremely happy with,ATM.
All the breast,
Shaun...

Hi LD, the Shep Tributes with DG A5's sound awesome. I am running them with Throbak covers. I really like these & have ordered another set with A4's. The first set came very close to a great set of original '59 PAF's that we had access to. In blind testing the Sheps came in second to the PAF's. If you like a vintage tone I rate these highly & IMHO great value for money.
I also recently bought a set of Vintage '58 PAF's that we know is a great set (not all are good) so my Replica will run PAF's & I'll keep the Sheps for other projects.
I figured why buy multiple sets of pickups & waste a lot of money, hence the PAF's (which hold their value) & I just don't have the time to try all of them.
I wanted to get a set of OTPG but they are too expensive for what they are............now near Patent No.'s sets.
Cheers, Rudi

Hey mate,
how did you find your Shep Tribute set?
