The Highyway ! are or where made with MIM parts but put together in the U.S.A. I think that has changed ,to all MIA.? But they are considered made in the U.S.A.
Great guitars. The finish is real thin and will come off quick. Some like that ,it will look road worn quick.
I like the MIM classic series , the deluxe and the classic players. I do not feel they are a real good deal new (price wise) cause you can get a MIA standard 08 used for the same as the MIM new. I do not like the MIM standards but they are not that bad. Fender raised the prices so IMO used in good shape is the way to go, or build your own. You thinking about a highwayy 1. I don't have one buy have played several they are good. With so many strats out it is hard to say what is the best etc. I own a MIM Classic 50's its a great guitar.
Got pick through a bunch, H1 & MIM they do all sound different. They all have that signature tone, but all sound a little dufferent.
Oh yeah....I've felt the same way about every stinkin' tele I've tried....methinks I'm just better off with strats, including one strat that does a mean impression of a tele!
