    Ben,
My message was too long last post!

I dont know of Real Guitars though i only use Mark because he works from his own workshop from home, shop techs tend to be always rushed to move on to the next job and aren't thorough enough for me particularly if you dont like the set up you will have to wait and waste more time, this guy will fine tune and alter on the spot:eg height of action/ etc if your not happy when you pick it up!(he.s very finicky about the quality of his work)!

anyway all the best Ben,keep in touch if you like its a great web site isn't it?

    Hi Ben,

That is a sensational price for a Historic in Oz,i doubt i'll get that lucky!,they are usually around that price in the U.S (U.S dollars)!

All my guitars (8 electrics and 2 acoustics) are set up by a guy i have used for 5 years called Mark Roper (Guitar Tuning Services) 9725 5627 in South Croydon. He is very experienced and used to be a tech at Music Boutique in Balwyn. When i bought my 2004 les paul it was a dog!He set it up and fine tuned it to perfection, anything you want,he won't do any thing else unless you want to not like some techs who set it up like its their own guitar!
Mark will check for something again at 10 at night on saturday in his workshop if he wants to,i personally wouldn't use anyone else again though.

Anyway good luck with that Goldtop(i am still shaking my head over the price!!!)
    Cheers, Steve

Oh yeah, if you want to get a brand new R6 for around $5500 or so, speak to woman at Scarlett Music in Footscray. She can get Gibsons straight from the official Melbourne Gibson importer and might even be able to let you choose from their stock of R6's at the warehouse. I inquired a few weeks ago (before I found the QLD one) and the importer currently has a number of R6's in stock.

    Hi Steve,

I bought the guitar from Musical Shack in QLD, off their website.

They had my Goldtop listed in their bargain bin for AU$3960, plus $26 delivery by TNT. Apparently it was in their store for a year and no-one wanted it because of the P-90's so they decided to massively discount it

Strangely enough they've got ANOTHER one listed now, at AU$6599!!!

The guy from Ace Guitar parts is great, I bought my TV Yellow LP Doublecut from him when he was North Coast Guitars. I plan on getting my Montreux stuff from him (probably p-90 covers and Switchtip at this point, I'm quite happy with the original pickguard)

Have you had any guitars set up by 'Real Guitars' in Glen Iris? I'm taking my R6 there to get set up on the weekend and apparently they do an awesome job.

Good luck on finding an R6 man!

    Ben

    Hi ,
    laservampire

I live in Melbourne also and have been shopping around for a Goldtop 56 RI,reissues are very expensive here compared to the U.S.($3000 approx U.S)

I've been scoping one or two out at Gallins but haven't talked price as yet, would you tell me confidentially just between you and i how much you paid? and did you bargain them down: ie what was the price they were offering?I'm looking to buy one very soon.

Also i have ordered Montreaux parts from ACE Guitar Parts see link

    Ace Guitar Parts Home Page

He is in Geelong i think, i have ordered twice and got very quick delivery within a 2 to 3 days via overnight satchel.I have both Montreaux and Vintage clone on my Gibson sunburst Les Paul but think the vintage clone parts are a better colour(more yellowish than brown)The new Montreaux parts are better, the aged ones are browner!
    Anyway Cheers,
    Steve
