Sorry to take so long. The carvin is about half way between my 60s slim taper, and a thick 50s style. The PRS ones I have played are thicker but had a D shape that I think the Carvin shares. LP seem to have much more a C shaped profile. My nieces husband and son both are Ibanez players, dad a Jem (don't know the model on Tristan's), but both necks seem at least slim taper slim with a C profile.

I think my carvin is a match for any Gibson or Prs at that price point, and do not think the quality of wood used by Gibson or Prs even approaches Carvin till the instruments are double what i paid. Soundwise I think it a good substitute, but then again I have played electric guitars for more than 40 years and was an artilleryman for a while so anything I hear is tempered by those facts. I do however prefer the neck (60's slim taper) and scale of my Les Paul. Who would of thought that gibbies 24.75 would feel so different than Carvins 25. My Carvin comes in asbout 8.5 lbs.

Agreed. And the Snowball having three modes is a big plus. You can record a whole band in omindirectional mode.

I'm very happy with it. I've recorded by own vocals using switch setting one, and the last two-three of my Soundclick recordings used setting two for the guitar amp.

I saw those guys calling them "pieces of shit" and didn't feel like arguing. They know their stuff, but the thing works fine for me.
