Hey there! I'd like to remind you to come down to TAD and do some perusing. We're trying to get TAD back on track with all of the current members. You can talk to myself, Drew224, beginnerguitargod, or lpstudiored if you have suggestions for TAD.

ok dude here's a perfect example...
i looked up some harmonic minor scales today, and found a real cool one, the phrygian dominant scale. perhaps your familiar with it. sounds like a real middle eastern/exotic type minor scale. i learned it and picked up my les paul and was messing with it. then it started to sound real familiar to my ear. then i was like holy shit! i've been playing this thing for a bout two friggin years already and i was off by one note! (and a slightly different fingering) i was playing this thing for a long time and didn't know what it was. it sounded real cool and there i thought i invented this scale lol! like i said shredding fascinates me, and i'm the one on the tip of the iceberg!

let's start by saying you don't "attempt" to shred, you no doubt tear it up... i'm the one attempting to shred not you. my style is kind of 80's ish metal(that's when i became of legal age. i'm an old mf) (love dokken and dio) with a few arpeggio's here and there. mix in a hendrix/zep style pentatonic or two, some power chords, minor scale runs, some halenese taps for good measure and bam, that's me in a nutshell, well sort of anyway. i'm going to brush up on minor, harmonic minor and melodic minor. i play minor scales in my leads but don't know which ones they are and what the difference is. i'm sure there is a slew of guitarists out there in mlp land in my shoes. you know, people playing something cause it sounds cool, but don't know the why it makes it cool part. there has to be an audience for those type of players. all right, let me quit my rambling, and go study some guitar theory... catch ya soon my brother

    ok dude, let's see...
do you know like all the arpeggios shapes and notes? and like the dorian, aoelian(think i spelled it right) modes? (and i think there's others), and classical style cause if you do you've got a hell of a lot of knowledge at your fingertips. (i've got some homework to do) let me know bro. we could have our own sub-section of mlp!...knowledge is power! catch ya soon

hey jaypee what's going on dude?
i was thinking... what's say we start some threads about shredding? i'm sort of new to mlp and i haven't seen any threads about the subject and style. you've obviously done some research, studying, and done your homework on this cause i hear it in your playing. arpeggios, sweep picking, hammer ons, tapping, yada yada. shredding fascinates me and after all it's not for the squeamish. it's definitely for the moderate to advanced player. anyway tell me what you think. shred thread, shredder's corner, club shred? later dude...
