I love all of the old WB stuff. Sylvester and his son are my favorites, but the single cartoon that I get the biggest charge out of is a Foghorn Leghorn episode in which the cackling hens are driving him batshit.

I think that's very wise, ducking out when shit comes down to insults. Whether you retaliate with insults of your own, or try to defend yourself, it's a waste of time. Some people don't exist beyond a certain level of consciousness and trying to relate to them as if they do is like screaming at a brick wall.

I do think, though, that when you do convey something intelligent and insightful... it can be like planting a seed, even in a a person who is currently ignorant and stubborn in his beliefs. He might carry a little nugget of insight around in his head for weeks or months or years without being able to understand it... then one day something happens to him and it makes sense. It has happened to me, so I gotta believe that it can happen to others.

When it delineates to insults though, it's counterproductive because both sides just fortify their defenses and resistance to new ideas.
