Dude, I was about to trade my 1960's CV the other day... I'd finally got my Peavey Classic 30 up and running though... so I figured what the hell, I'll see what the CV sounds like through this little beast... HOLY SHIT! I don't think I can ever get rid of this guitar. The tone through that Peavey is incredible... I'd rank it right up there with p90s... not as much bite, but more versatility. Now I just need to replace the electronics... the stock tone pots are a sick joke...

The uber-shiny polyester finish isn't really doing it for me either... and as much as I love tortoise, I really hate the cheap fake PVC kind... seems my biggest issues with the guitar are how it looks.

It depends on a lot of things really, bang for the buck this is a pretty awesome deal and a pretty veratile axe, 3 P90's, bigsby, and a case for $499

Buy Epiphone Limited Edition Riviera Custom P93 Electric Guitar | Semi-Hollow and Hollow Body Electric Guitars | Musician's Friend

More detail on what you want tone wise and style wise can help narrow down your options. The discontinued Gretsch full hollow 512x line with dearmond single coils is by far the best budget rockabilly /Atkins finger picking / and good at just about everything axe I've had, you can find good B stock deals on fleabay for $500-$700, I wouldnt pay any more than that though, as you can find gently used Gretsch Proline annies for just a little more.

I always wire my Strats so lower Tone control works on bridge, normally with 5 way switch and I prefer the Deltone true bypass 250K Pot that Fender offers. The 7 way Switching mod for Strats is nice gives you al 5 plus neck and bridge and all 3 pu's on at once.
