Thanks mate. I've been on the search for a new singer since the second the quit for the first time.

I was prepared to give her a chance because I know we can all have bad days but she just wasn't prepared to compromise at all and just flipped, and I mean seriously nuts man.

I'm talking to someone at the moment who's offered to step in for the gigs up until Christmas until we can find a full-time replacement - so that's cool. And you never know, it might work out into a more permanent arrangement.

I've put so much hard work into this that nobody's gonna make it all go away.

Yes mate, like you say she's a singer and she's female - not really a cat in hell's chance, huh?

    Cheers mate!

My woman bought me the hat when we were in Spain recently. You know how Slash is known as The Cat In The Hat? Well I've become known as The Twat In The Hat!

I was enjoying it hugely until two days ago when my singer decided to throw the biggest diva strop (think Axl Rose x 100000000!) in the world and quit.

No way am I having her back in the band after her behaviour so, for now, our gigs (starting this weekend) are on hold and I'm looking for a new singer.

    ****ing singers, eh?

Everybody seems pretty happy with the quality of the Vox effects and amp sims, that's why I'm after a VT or Tonelab, can only afford used though.

    Cheers mate ...

    Hey Ian,
Great to hear from you dude. I'm not sure of the actual price but, I expect that
the Roland Cube 15 or 20 is pretty close. I have the Cube 30 and it's an awesome
    little runt.

2 channels, effects, a selection of amp models and a line-out jack.
You will need a seperate footswitch.
I highly recommend these amps Ian. I've used mine for near on ten years now.
Recorded, rehearsed and gigged with it. Incredibly versatile.
I generally buy most of my guitars amps and things from Cranbourne Music.
(I've lived nearby for 20 years now)
Sky music in Clayton is also another good shop.
Good luck and let me know what you decide on.

    Cheers

    G'day Ian,

The last time I considered something in that price range was a Bugera BC-15, it has a valve pre-amp and can be had for about $120 I think. Cranbourne Music carry that brand from memory, and I would think Billy Hyde too if they're still trading. I'm semi interested in a used Vox VT amp or Tonelab pedal and check occasionally. Hope this helps.

The bolt on VS set neck is an age old argument but the deciding factor in this case should more or less be - vintage spec LP's all had set necks Bolt on's are for fenders and metal guitars. LP's are classy and I find that a set neck does their form factor more justice.

Yea that makes sense, I felt the same way but got impatient and ordered some nicer pups anyway, I figured I would use them in my final one and just move them to different guitars until I found one that deserved them :P

I like mine better than a shop guitar and it sounds damn fine but I don't think you could put it against a classic Gibson Custom. But I enjoy playing it when I have the time or when I am not building new ones :P

I recommend starting with a bolt on neck as it is easier to adjust, finish and work on as the pieces are smaller. But! you will get more out of a set neck as you learn a lot more but really REALLY take your time measuring those post holes!

the best advice I ever disregarded was on here along the lines of 'there is not one aspect of lutherie that is improved upon by going quickly'

Not at all mate - I am really keen to swap and share experiences, not a whole lotta people into this in Aus so its good talking to people with similar circumstances.

I use the standard bridge/tailpiece, nut, tuners from my first one but replaced all the electronics with a Mr. Page wiring kit and iron Gear pickup matched H-H set. not super high end stuff but the upgrades cost the same as the wood :P

Honestly I think you could get by with the stock stuff and upgrade as you go. GME will change out the hardware in the kit if you pay a bit extra and ask them to.
