My LP was a fretless wonder and I discussed what I was looking for with the luthier who did the work and he suggusted 6155 dunlop frets. Worked out good, but took some getting used to. Plays great!
I attached the link the the guy, Rich Beck, that did mine and he has a good article with Pictures on refreting. My new frets come up to the binding and come over it a little. The binding is not removed to do the refret. There are a couple of hairline cracks in the binding where the new frets meet it, but not on all frets and it's barely noticable on the ones w/ the crack
I'll try to get some good pic.'s but I don'y have access to a good quality camera. Check out the pic's on the link.
Mine is a 1976 and I had it refretted in 2007, so almost 30 years. I wouldn't worry about a refret on a guitar as now as yours.
    Good Luck!

Hi, I see from http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/vint...p-deluxes.html that you have done a refret on your LP deluxe. I'm interested to know what happened with regards to the neck binding during / after the refret. Was the binding removed? Was the binding cut at all? do the frets now sit above the binding or does the binding still mate up to the sides of the frets? could you post a close up view of a fret and the binding at all so I can see how it looks?. I have a new custom and i'm wary about undue fret wear if I play it too much that's all.
