I had to make two posts, here's #2
I'll try to explain the mini tutorial I did, it's a couple of years ago and I don't really remember. But I think I used some cross sections and the contour curves of the body to create the patch surf. For the contour I think I used a mirrored upper half, the one without cutaway.
Select the curves and chose the patch tool, set a really high resolution, like 50x50 and hopefully you're there, you got some kind of top carve. Then untrim the patch surface so it extends the guitar perimeter, it must be longer and wider then the perimeter. Then extrude the perimeter through the patch, split the patch with the extruded surface, then split the extrude with the patch, join and cap the bottom.

This is really not the best way to build a top carve, it was more a quick Rhino demo but the patch tool is fun to play around with.

Hey Goth, you're doing a fine work with Rhino. One thing you should try to pay some extra attention to is surface and curve continuity. When you're working with wood parts, like a guitar G1 continuity is enough but if you really want top notch surfaces you need to aim higher. I don't have any tutorial links but google the Internet. That's actually the most important part of 3d modeling. It's very important that you can find the methods to create seamless joints between two or more surfaces and Rhino got the tools, you just need to figure out how to use them.
