hey man, u have an awesome guitar. wanted to know what distortion pedals u r using with the emg 81 & 85. I have also installed 81 & 85 on my GC 68 RI Tri-burst, my likes of music is extreme metal - Amon Amarth, Mastodon, Behemoth, Meshuggah and I understood from your posts that u also like similar music.
Thanks for getting back to me. I'm planning to install EMG's in my '97 Classic. I'm refinishing it in transparent black. It's looking pretty cool, and I'm nearly finished - just a few more coats of clear, then sand & polish. Anyway, I think it would be cool with EMG's. Thanks again, man.
Dude, you've got the most awesome black custom I've ever seen! I've always had black Les Pauls, but somehow I ended up with the amber one I have today. Anyway, I had a question about the EMG's. I've had an ESP Eclipse with EMG's and I loved the way it sounded. I also like Zakk's sound, but I wanted to talk to someone first-hand who has EMG's in their Les Paul. I'm wondering how it affected the sustain, response and punch of your guitar when compared to the original passives. I don't want to lose punch, and I'm wondering if you noticed any of that. I'm assuming probably not much, and that you gained in other areas. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
