Thanks for taking time to answer .
I also want to own a real paf set . What do you think of the price ?
Is it the market price ? I guess that zebras are still more expensive .
What is important is the sound! The colour does not matter .
Another issue is how long they will last ? as they are currently in good conditions, i assume they can work a long time .
Yeah...I'd say about $5200.00 difference. I can't sit here and justify the price difference to you. I love my PAF....but for the money there's no question the ThroBak's are a better bang for the buck. But just once in my life, I wanted to own a pair of PAF's. You know? The good thing is....that if you've done your homework and the pair is totally legit....you shouldn't lose money should you ever decide to sell them.
But if you're talking money....there's no question that the ThroBak's are a terrific PAF clone.
I have appreciated a lot the sound you had with your PAF '59.
Let me get your point of view on the following :
I have tried many Pups 59 clones (Holmes, Fralin 60, Sheptone .....) . Not fully satisfied yet ! and
i have the opportunity to get real PAF 62 (deal is sure !!, certified by a luthier, bought directly in USA)
Do you think the challenge is worth ?
What is your feed back with Throbak Pups ?
Thanks for answering
All the best

Dan, I really dig your youtube stuff... Your tone especially through the 65 BFDR is great. That Mac song Before the Beginning is one of my faves. I've been playing lots of blues for many, many years now and currently use a studio paul through a blond Bandmaster. As you are someone who has a lot of experience with both an R8 and R9 what do you think are the biggest differences playability and tone wise between the two types? I'd love to get a reissue Paul someday and it seems like better deals can be had on the 8s. Thoughts?
