Agreed. I've often thought the Russian front was Hitler's worst mistake. We can all thank our lucky stars he didn't let Rommel run the damn war.

I'm pretty sure Either Hitler or Stalin would have turned on the other tho, but that would have reshaped the entire world.

I actually didn't really delve in to the Russian history until college. I had one instructor who was very engaging, I learned a hell of a lot from him despite his being very VERY liberal. One of the few truly open-minded liberals I've ever met. Never really held it against me that I tend to be more conservative. Had a lot of really great and eye-opening talks with him, I think for both of us. He really turned me on to the Russian campaign and the effects it had in shaping the Cold War afterward.

I used to check out every history book I could get my hands on, particularly World War 2 books. My Dad tells me my 1st word was "Spitfire", much to the chagrin of Mom. He'd point to a picture or a model of a Spit, and I'd yell "Fitzfiver"

Ahh, on the contrary, I was thinking you'd do exactly that after I typed it! I just keep remembering the predominantly 1-sided education I got growing up. History was always my favorite subject, but History class invariably sucked. I was always disappointed, I never learned anything I hadn't already read on my own. I ended up educating myself in history. I'd always read way ahead in the texts, drove me crazy waiting for the damned teacher to catch the hell up!!

Well, we need a few! Just remember to teach 'em there are 2 sides to every story, not just the popular political opinion of the day.

Well, there is the Civil War aspect to it. The Firefly verse is basically the South during Reconstruction.
