    part 1

Hey! Congratulations on pumping up your Baretta
looking forward to photos and sound clips
thanks for the advice regarding Baretta' necks beginning 1986 if i ever get another one (probably)

so we are both "almost drummers" - life is strange

Pat McGrath has a wicked foot on his bass drum - very impressive overall
do you know if he uses a single, double or triple headed batter?
thanks for turning me on to him... enjoyed the song as well

have not heard of the Saosins - will check them out
actually, i have not heard much of anything new by choice - so thanks for dropping this in my lap

how exactly would you use a whammy as a wah? any demos?
what brand/model harmonizer do you have? would love to hear the "polychordal voicings" you mentioned

i have an Eventide PitchFactor for my stack
and a Boss SuperShifter for my combo - fun toys

    part 2

not familiar with the "karaoke party" - interesting how some effects do not sound good alone when they stand alone, yet when combined with another effect a much cooler sound appears...

also used a Rat for a long time - glad you are happy with yours

only thing new on my part is getting a Digitech Whammy for the stack and a tc electronic PolyTuner for the combo
have not gotten around to trying them out yet - one day though

on my Lester i have one of jonesy's Jimmy Page rigs installed - love it - especially the toggle switch in the middle position
jonesy is currently making me a rig for my strat which will improve my playing 136% :~)

not exactly sure what it will do, however, i trust jonesy because he has been right so far

well, stay in touch, and i will do likewise

and i wish you many brilliant notes on your new and improved "vintage" Baretta

    take care...

i have wondered if anyone noticed drummers as my avatar in a guitar forum

you are the first person to ask

hope you do not mind i quote myself, and, if you go to page 19 of my profile's "Visitor Messages" there is a bit more...

"First off, I am not a drummer. Second, I was the guitar player in a band Who as soon as the drummer walked away from his drum set would jump on it and go to town – my band-mates never asked for an encore...

Actually, I asked for a drum set for Christmas but my parents gave me a guitar instead - something lost in translation - so I guess it worked out okay - but I never lost my love of listening to drumming/percussion, etc.

Therefore, I am a big fan of drummers.

(i apologize if i have posted this to before)

    Modifications from stock:

Originally, this EVH Baretta just came with a single humbucker per Eddie's set–up.

I found this a bit too primitive and limiting sonically, so I made the below changes:

Added Seymore Duncan "Hot Rails" pick–ups in the middle and neck positions.

    Added a five–way pick–up switch.

It sounded pretty good and stayed in tune with the Floyd Rose (albeit with the below exception.)

It was a nightmare to play. I think the neck was warped from the start because no matter how the truss rod was adjusted when the action was lowered it would not be in tune with itself above the 12th fret.

After spending a significant amount of time, money, and energy, I finally gave up because regardless how good it sounded, it played as if the strings were straightened coat hangers...

As that I was not interested in being the next Mr. Universe, or trying to be as strong as Eddie, I had enough and threw in the towel.

I only wish I had not gotten a lemon neck-wise because it sounded so good.

(you can hear it on a few of my song clips back in the '80s)
