I like that strat.Im kind of loss right now, that lp special is such a deal and theres not no one I seen with one yet lefty. Its just that times is hard right now with economy.I work in the oil field, and its very dead right now.I hate to spend the money, but I hate to lose the chance to pick up that guitar.

The wine colored strat is an '06 HWY 1 Deluxe with an ash body and an extra wide fretboard with jumbos and alnico III pups. It's a nice guitar...I almost sold it, but no one wanted to buy it, so I pulled it out of the shop I had it in.

Jay Tursers...you know, people either praise 'em or don't have a high opinion of 'em....either way, I suspect it's tougher to cheat or cut corners on an archtop vs. a solid body electric...

Oh, the Zydeco thing...I looked at who you were jamming with, and put 1+1 together.

I probably saw you at Midtown Music Festival in Atlanta a few years back. And no, I doubt I'd be qualified to jam with someone of your caliber. I'm just a hobbyist....

Laces were one way to go...I decided to try to do something vintage with the '68 R. I think what I really need to do is just get some decent pots in there and replace the caps with Orange Drop .047's....I just haven't been motivated because muscially I'm not doing anything with them as a player right now. (And even if I dropped laces in that, it still wouldn't have the presence of my archtops. There's just something about those big guitars...)

I like 'em OK. They're not doing much for me right now because It's just me and my drummer right now (I also sing). The strat is a great ensemble instrument, but as far as that big, ballsy low end sound...nah.

But I do have a '68 reissue that I installed Abigail Ybarra Vintage '69's into. I need to rewire it because the bridge side is WAY too bright. I have some caps....but as far as a reference...it's nice to have one for those because Strats take the 6 in a line tuners and the wilkinson bridge which are specialty items. (And I usually don't have to worry about that sort of stuff with the Les Pauls or my archtops.)

Ooohhh...sweet! Let me know how that goes down. It's always nice to have a great vendor resource! (I sure could use one for a few of my guitars...especially the strats.)

Hmm....Well, I don't know anything about those...but Lefty Les was tickled over his AL 2000 LH Goldtop....

Ah man....that doesn't surprise me at all.

That pic in the Southpaw City groiup is a Heritage H-140. I'd loove to get my hands on it...I just can't justify the 2 thousand plus dollars for it. I figure if I ever get to the point where I want that "1 guitar", I'm either going with one of those Heritage guitars or a private luthier. I have no interest whatsoever in the "R" Gibson Custom Shop stuff. (I'm also moving so I've got some extra bills for the next few months.)

So...I was going to ask...do you mostly go for the single coils or the humbuckers? Or a combination? What kind of stuff sounds good in an archtop?

Hmmm.....I might eventually be in the market again. Right now I'm really trying to limit myself. I think I've got the right amount of guitarsj...the only question I have is whether or not I would benefit from something of a higher quality, or something handmade.

    One of these days....

BTW: How do you like your Heritage?

    Yeah....I've got 2 of 'em.

My '80 custom has been refretted, and has BB Pros in it along with a complete rewire I did myself. I love that guitar so much I may ask them to bury it with me when it's time for me to punch my ticket...

I also have an '06 Studio which I set up for hard rock. Great guitar as well...
