I've got a YCV20WR; change out the 12AX7's. The power tubes by themselves won't impact tone nearly as much as the pre-amp tubes, especially V1. If you can, try to find a Dynaco or Fisher 12AX7 with matching sides on ebay; they're the same as Telefunkens, and cheaper. If your amp is anything like mine, the reverb is crap until you get a decent tube in V3. NOS GE's can be had on the bay for relatively short money. For V2, I got an Amperex Bugle Boy (Valvo are the same here).

I went the "new production" route for new pre-amp tubes in my Traynor and noticed a huge improvement in tone and performance. I was, however, much happier with the amp after I got some nice old tubes. If you can get higher end pre-amp tubes, they are well worth it, but anything is an upgrade over those Sovteks, assuming you still have them in there. JJ or Mullard reissue 12AX7's are way better than the Sovteks, and can be ordered online (Doug's Tubes, Tube Depot) new for about $10-$12 bucks each. GL!

I already put JJ EL34L's in it...that gave me a little more bottom end. I also sit it on top of a Fender 2x12 diagonal. It helps but the speakers can only spit out what the amp sends em'. I've thought about takin' my ax to GC or Sam Ash and plugging into a few, but I'm not in a position to buy right now. Thanks again for your input. It's hard to find anybody who has/had one of these.

Well they are what they are new tubes help some I posted again about the amp in that thread , adding the Xtra cab helps some also ,..... but you may want a different better sounding combo , one more to your liking that is a combo. Want it louder put EH12ax7 tube in . The stock ones in mine were Sovtex 12ax7 and EH EL-34s , Either EH12ax7 tungsol , JJ 12ax7 and JJEL-34ls or KT77s work it a bit, only a bit better.

I just noticed your message. Mine is the GOTW #34 (Standard, 50's neck) with a CV Guitars Peter Green mod. Do you have any pics posted anywhere? I'd like to see it.
