Hello! You're playing is great and with your home brew T-Top you nail the Jimmy Page tone! Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi Andrew, I recently did the t-top mod on my guitar and it sounds great!!! And after searching the threads for a while i want to change the magnet in my BB1 or BB2 (havent decided) to an A3. And if i understand you correctly in your JP model. you have :

    490r(A5) in the Bridge
    BB2(A3) in the neck

my question is, is the A3 magnet in the neck short, long? and rough, smooth?

    Thank You, SG Lover 94.

    Fiddleing about: Gibson R8 VOS, Guitarworkselektronik, T-top pre -75 bridge (7,26) and original BB1 (7,5) neck... Grovers... Class 5 vol max, treble 3 o'clock, mid 1 o'clock, bass 9 o'clock...

Cheap Shurereplica 45 degrees at center circa 1,5 feet away...

Yep, have the original BB1 still there, it's not that important imho... I think it's more important how interact (I seldom use it alone)

    Not sure what it measures, no. 1's supposed to measure 7.5 (2 - 8.2 and 3 - 8.7) so I guess it's around there..

Hi! Ok, firstly I think the T-top has a more "even" sound i.e it's more linear in the frequencies...

Furthermore (maybe because of age) the upper register is much more rounded but without losing the bite, if you know what I mean. (the clone measures 7.5 and this 7.26)

It feels tighter in the bass and lower mid register, the upper mid feels about the same - but a little more swampier without losing clarity..

Subtle differences but with a cranked Marshall they're quite pronounced.

I also noticed a more quackier sound in the mid position (which is what I'm really looking for!)

It sure got balls fully cranked, roll down to get a bluesy PAFlike sound...

Really mellow and softish clean rolled way back...

Also the knowledge that it's at least 35-40 years adds some MOJO and self confidence! ;-)

Hi, I'm getting a 490r to swap the magnet like you did. from what I can hear in your vids the resulting t top sounds pretty awesome. are you satisfied with the BB2 or can you think of a better alternative for the neck?

    Ciao!

    Rnr!
