I can't justify it either, but I'm not getting any younger. I haven't had a nice tube amp since a late-'60s Twin Reverb was just used, not vintage!

The Rude Mood takes the Ivan one step further with the separate power sections - otherwise it's the same concept. What the RM doesn't have is variable voltage to take it down to two watts. That's kind of got me. I don't have much occasion to crank 20 watts up to power tube distortion. But it's a $1,000 decision. I need to talk to Randy about variable voltage.

Pricey is right. But I think it'd hold its value quite well, with little depreciation. Component and design-wise, the experts here that I trust give it the highest marks, and I've heard them played live. There's a new member who lives five miles from the "factory" and who has played them.

Not a decision to be taken lightly - I've been mulling it over for two months. And now I hear member Randelli's Rude Mood amp is fantastic, and I believe it's about 1/2 the price. We'll see. As you know, you can shop 'til you drop.

I'm sure some of it is, but I'm just as sure some of it's not, kwim?

As much as I defend amp modeling, there will always be something special about tubes - most relevantly if they're the right tubes. And those Classics are nice amps. Never played one, but I've heard one plenty.

I'm looking very seriously at the Category 5 Ivan. I "know" in advance how much better that will be than my POD but, at that price, it had better be!

That sounds like it'll work fine. I find I set the tone stack on my P/A amp to all flat and leave it there, and only rarely adjust the volume (when Riverette goes out ). I make all other tweaks on the POD.

Great amp score! I've never played one, but have heard some of the sweetest "tone" ever come from one. If the volume suits your needs, you're set.

Frankly, that's one of the worst analogies I've ever heard. Virtually no relevance whatsoever.

There are good teachers of every style here. You got your Phil47UK, and then you got your mudfinger. You got your huw, and then you got your Jody. You've got people telling you resting your hand on the bridge is "poor form", and folks like me who don't think you need an overdrive pedal if you...rest your hand on the bridge.

Keep pressing for what you want and need. It's all right here - main reason I love this place so, in spite of its challenges. Any toes you step on will be of big boys who will get over it.

Wish we could jam for a few hours. I think it'd be symbiotic.
